Shot in daylight drug deal, he's expected to recover
Friday, February 15, 2008 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A Jersey City man was in critical condition yesterday after being shot in broad daylight, but he is expected to recover, officials said. The 42-year-old Myrtle Avenue man said he was in an alley near his home off Martin Luther King Drive at 11:45 a.m. when he was shot during a drug transaction, Lt. Edgar Martinez said. The bullet entered the right side of his chest and ricocheted downward to lodge in his stomach, Martinez said. When rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center, he was in critical but stable condition, Martinez said, adding that the wound did not appear to be life-threatening. The gunman fled eastbound on Myrtle toward King Drive, Martinez said. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Jersey City Police Department tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
