Guns are NOT the problem. Actually we'd all be a lot safer if law abiding citizens were granted concealed carry permits.

All of these nonsense firearms laws only take guns out of the hands of law abiding people. Pass all the gun laws you want, it won't stop gun crime. It will however make it easier for criminals to attack the innocent.

We need more police on the streets and less laws that punish the innocent.

It is not guns it is handguns, concealed weapons. A weapons violation should require a tough sentence of house arrest, I am talking a year or so, community service, and at minimum a $1000 fine and it should apply to youths make the parents responsible for the fine. The second violation should come with mandatory jail time no loopholes, no plea bargains, no if's ands or buts. The easiest way to get guns off the street is to make the penalties really tough, if we face these stupid punk kids with thousands in fines a real financial burden on those who cannot afford it and make their life inconvenient while not ruining it, I think they would slowly stop carrying guns as being grounded by the state and having to pay all of your money to the govt. would not be worth it. Also, being able to track the "Bad" kids using house arrest bracelets would effectively curtail crime.

What we need to do is arm every law abiding citizen. This way we can take out all these little wannbe thugs and ganstas.

Cops: 16-year-old caught with loaded gun

A 16-year-old Jersey City boy was arrested outside Ferris High School last night when he was found carrying a loaded .380 caliber handgun, officials said.

At about 8:25 p.m., police got a tip about a fight on Mercer Street and the caller said one of those involved handed a gun to the boy, who is a resident of Grand Street near Fairmont Avenue, reports said.

Cops responding to the area spotted the group at Ferris and one of them matched the description of the boy with the gun, reports said. When the officers identified themselves, he said, "It's in my pocket," reports said.

Cops found the handgun, which had no magazine in it but did have one bullet loaded into the chamber, reports said.

The boy was taken to the Police Department juvenile bureau, where he was processed and charged with weapons offenses before being transported to the Hudson County Youth House in Secaucus, reports said.
