Oh yes, so I am exaggerating, only the fact that nobody was robbed on Highland or north of it recently, and the fact that somebody was robbed on Glenwood, and the fact that somebody was shot on Duncan are true.
Well, I am exaggerating, he was shot in the foot, so there shouldn't be any problem.

I totally agree with worm here. The Mrs. often walks to and from the PATH on Bergen and has never had a problem. Yes the area is grittier than downtown is but I would not consider it unsafe (with the caveat that Jersey City is a city and things happen). There are plenty of buses that run on JFK, Bergen and Monticello. A good spot to catch something would probably be the corner of Bergen and Montgomery. A lot of bus routes converge there. And if you feel unsafe at night take a cab; to Fairmount it would be like $5.

Also if you're going into midtown there is a Red & Tan bus line that runs on JFK to the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Please look into what JSQ has written in other posts before considering his opinions. That said, there are many posts in regards to this area (lookup Near St. Peters, Lincoln Park, West side).
I am a small female who has never had a problem on Bergen, even past Montgomery, and I walk and bike the area at all times of the day and night. It's a pretty busy street in general, I prefer it to JFK in the evening. However, if it's late and you want to play it safe , than there's the no. 10, the Bergen Bus and 24 hour cabs parked in Journal square. I live on Fairview which is a bit further south of where you are looking, and it's fine there.

where from? even the lights are dimmer as you pass Montgomery, and people wasting time on the street are way more to the south
furthest north, robberies were reported on Glenwood, I think, and this spring somebody was shot on Duncan.. so there you go, quite an obvious limit

Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me if this area is safe?
Especially walking along Bergen to the Path.
Thanks in advance.
