It's amazing that flooding has been going on for years and still JC has no plans to address the issue. Healy & co are pathetic. Instead of just handing out abatements, they should make the new developers to improve the infrastructure.

Flooding in Jersey City thread from JCList?

http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewt ... =ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0

(it had this in it)

?My ground floor apartment on the corner of Grove St and Grand got a foot of water throughout in the first storm. The water first came up and overflowed from the tub, toilet, and sump pump hole-and then all at once was coming in everywhere! Really horrible, JC sewer water.Traumatic.
The elevation of Liberty Harbor development no doubt exacerbates a long standing problem here. But how can you afford to fix the city after the politicians have taken their cut??

The purple areas are the areas that are prone to flooding.

I always thought the downtown area was common knowledge that it was a flood zone...

I don't have any specific info, but I am guessing it was newly renovated right around the time Hurricane Irene hit. There were a lot of homes in the vicinity that were under a lot of water. Did you look at the flood maps/did your insurance company ask about this information?

Greetings all,

Just bought a ground floor condo on Grove Street in-between York / Montgomery and am finding out that there is a history of flooding damages.

Has anyone lived in this area for a while and could possibly provide some insight into specifics of major flooding events ? This information was not disclosed to me during the buying process unfortunately and my realtor was not helpful in educating us regarding the risks in the area.

Also, how does this location affect the resale value of the property ? It is a beautiful 2 bedroom condo newly renovated with shared backyard and private patio space, but finding out this unforseen information has definitely tainted its appeal in my opinion.
