I noticed one of these "out of the ordinary" cops stationed at the intersection of 9th and Erie Street by the Cordero School yesterday evening at about 6pm. Didn't seem to be directing traffic since there is already a light at the intersection. Just kinda hanging out. Never seen one before there.

yea i have been seeing them around the city on what feels like every corner. Most likely has to do with the schools and coming from experience in JC public high schools, are probably there to prevent any major fights from happening. Plus i only see them in the area of high schools. if they were just there for crossing safety, they should have been around all school year long. That would be my only guess but i could be wrong.

If you driven on 139 you will see a cop is stationed from Palisades all the way to Kennedy and Kennedy to the 1/9 ramp plus a cop is at Kennedy and Manhattan ave. I seen standing there from 2 or 3 till sometime after 5..
Is this happening in the rest of the city as well? I didn't see them in downtown. And anyone know why they are out? My guess is its, since schools getting out they wanted show some force?
