Most of the time when they name a public building after a former president, isn't that former president dead? I realize there are exceptions, but this president hasn't even finished his term.

Looks like Angela McKnight took a page straight of of the socialist third world country's manual for a newly elected lawmaker.
This is the kind of thing they do a lot in places like India. Don't make any improvements, don't even bother proposing improvements because that would be to hard. As soon as your elected, propose renaming the airport, school or highway after one of your old clan leaders.

Assemblywoman Angela McKnight, D-Jersey City, said a constituent came to her with the idea, which McKnight said would offer a "positive inspiration" to the pre-K through five school's students. McKnight receives full Jersey City Council support to rename P.S. 20 after ObamaAssemblywoman Angela McKnight (D-31) received full support of the Jersey City Council to rename Public School No. 20 after President Barack Obama (D). “While in office, our president has done great work regarding education reform,” McKnight said during the public portion of Wednesday’s council meeting, also referencing the “Every Student Succeeds Act” Obama signed on December 10, 2015. “(The act) prepares students success for college careers and more importantly guaranteed steps are taken to help students and their schools improve.” Additionally, McKnight mentioned that Obama is the only president to propose that students can attend a two-year community college for free.
