restricting parking on one corner will only ease the issue at that intersection.. find an area in the entire city where people do not have an issue with parking.. i live on a one way street and people regularly drive down it like its a highway.. nothing will get done because there are far more larger issues within the city..

you can complain about this and when police begin to enforce it more, they will not be able to patrol the areas in which more robberies occur..

ask your council to install traffic lights.. im sure you wont like seeing red yellow and green coming through your windows all night..

choose which evil you want to fight, it cant be both..

I am one of the "livid resident" that lives within this location. There are numerous accident that occurred at this intersection (and are not reported here or any of the Jersey City media). In fact, I have the local Jersey City Police telephone number as speed dial on my phone because of the high frequencies of these collisions.

Prior to this accident involved a husband and wife with a 2 mos old baby and a four years old daughter; another involved a senior citizen. I can keep listing but what is the use? Nothing has been done and I really wish the City would take some real action to resolve the traffic conditions throughout the city.

I was in an accident at that same corner a few years back, going the same direction. I pulled into Manilla enough to see around the parked car to my right, and saw that a car was indeed coming. I stopped to let it pass, but the car behind me kept going and rear-ended me.
I got that car's license number and called 911. The cops never got in touch with the other driver, however. He got off scot-free.
Yeah, people parking on the corners is a big problem downtown. Dealing with our cops is no picnic, either.

I don't get it, you got the plate number of the hit and run driver why didn't you report it to your insurance company ? And you shoud have had the police report amended.

I walk Manilla almost every morning and evening:

The speeding on Manilla is out of control - I have watched some drivers treat it like a drag strip. I would fully support speed humps and/or cameras through there.

There is almost no regard for pedestrians in cross walks - although that seems to be generally true in JC.

I agree with everyone else - they need to do more about parking too close to the intersection.

Something worse than this will need to happen for change - argh.

Speed traps are great for revenue, but not necessarily useful for public safety.

It is done, just not with sufficient frequency to have any noticeable impact on driver behavior.

We need to have the red zones repainted onto the curbs at corners citywide, and then vigorous enforcement so that parked cars are not forcing drivers to pull halfway into intersections to check for oncoming traffic.
