A Jersey City man has been charged in the shooting of a Jersey City cab driver after he walked into a police precinct thinking he was only wanted for questioning, police said today.

James Purcell, 21, walked into the West Precinct on Communipaw Avenue on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and asked police why they were looking for him, police said. His photos had been published in The Jersey Journal and on NJ.com, as well as television news stations.

I hate the "be safe" ending to conversations especially in person. It seems as though we are about to walk alone in a war zone. When did this start 'cause years ago we never used this good bye phrase.

I have always felt safe even very late at night around JSQ. In a naive way, i have not paid much attention to several posts about crime being up. This definitely gives me pause.

I hope they find the right individual and take him off the streets. The stories in the JJ seem (to me anyway) to indicate that it might not even have been robbery......just that this guy did not want to pay nor had any intention to pay the fare. Also, there was no mention of any money or anything else taken...as far as i know.

Be save everyone.

Jersey City police have released photos of a man they want to speak to in connection with the shooting of a taxi driver on Monday who remains in critical condition with a bullet wound to the back of his head, The Jersey Journal reports.

Jersey City Police Major Case Unit Commander Michael Gajewski said yesterday that two of the images captured by Port Authority security cameras show the man walking inside the Journal Square PATH Station.

.

I was going to post this reply??

I will throw out a guess?because of the color and size of that warehouse and because I was once looking for BEVERLY HILLS FURNITURE . The furniture store/warehouse is on Garfield and Gates. BEVERLY HILLS FURNITURE 134 Garfield . (www.bh-furniture.com ) Put 134 Garfield, Jersey City in Google maps and go down Gates. It look?s like the spot where channel 7 was broadcasting from and where the cops are putting up the yellow tape?around 25 Gates.

But the JJ just posted this piece minutes ago?.
