View Larger Map Man tells cops he was beaten and robbed of $2,000 Published: Tuesday, July 05, 2011, 3:00 AM By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal A customer at a Jersey City restaurant was beaten and robbed of $2,000 cash Sunday night, police reports said. Police were cruising along Monticello Avenue Sunday at 11:15 p.m. when a 38-year-old man with blood on his face and shirt flagged them down, police said. The victim told police that he was inside a Chinese restaurant at 161 Monticello Ave. when men approached him and started punching him in the face, reports said. They then threw him to the floor and started kicking him, taking the cash and cell phone from his pockets before fleeing, police said. The man was treated at Jersey City Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
