This has been going on for over 4 hours. NO action on getting it fixed except people standing around looking at it. Ask why PSEG is drilling in a sidewalk for a pole

Hi
We got the same thing from our utility bill. We had signed up for
American Power and Gas and started getting slammed on the bill. We told PSEG we want OUT.
This outfit keeps sending rebate checks for a business we closed 4 years ago.
It was NEVER a business account, but residential so I don't know how they came up with our defunkt company to mail a bogus rebate to.
After my partner went to PSEG and complained we just got letters from PSEG saying they will be off in Feb for electric
and March for gas. Go to the PSEG office and speak to a customer service person.

I heard it too. Not popping but a sharper sound
I am on the Island I was awake at 530
But think it was more than 10 shots
Sometimes sounds echo off the cliffs but
Might have been off Baldwin near
Demolition site

It's not just storefronts. The Stretch of Newark avenue sidewalk after the cemetery is a disgrace. This is used by students, parents, anyone trying to get downtown. Newark Ave is a race track and too dangerous to walk in. Signs mean NOTHING here. Please do NOT suggest crossing Newark at 8 Am unless there is a Police officer directing traffic.

FEMA chose for the location of the derailment scenario a stretch of track adjacent to the New Jersey Turnpike and about a mile from downtown Jersey City. One side of the track is industrial and includes an electric substation. The other side is residential.

Better do that study on a day there are hundreds of people at Enos Jones Park or the elementary school (PS 5) within blocks of this rail line is in session. How's about that Spectra gas pipeline that runs through here?

This agency was created by Congress. Interstate commerce is NOT being served here. Toll increases, fare increases, political wheeling and dealing in real estate, bridge closings and now Path closing wtc svc on weekends for a year? All result in economic chaos except for the ones collecting salaries at this agency. Time to put it out to pasture.

Tax Appeals

We received an advertisement from a law firm about appealing our JC property tax assessment. The letter said we were over- assessed by over $10,000 which resulted in us overpaying about $1,000 a year. Has anyone on this board used a law firm like this to dispute their taxes? If so, was it worth trying? Thanks for any help.

what is going on the PATH? ANOTHER signal problem? What are we paying fare increases for if this train is almost always delayed or the same "signal" problems keep cropping up? Sat nite and NO trains at all? Maybe the execs should get docked everytime this happens -- put the money into the damn signals.

These high pressure lines were never intended to go through highly populated areas. Christie axed the tunnel because he thought it would cost too much for NJ. This project is to benefit NY and NYC so why isn't he being outraged about this? This just makes NJ a pass thru for NYC -- how many businesses are going to leave JC and NJ if this gets built?

Re: HUGE GAS LINE COMING? Companies look to run natural gas pipeline through Jersey City

HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM
From AP, today:
"Thousands of pipelines nationwide fit the same bill, and they frequently experience mishaps. Federal officials have recorded 2,840 significant gas pipeline accidents since 1990, more than a third causing deaths and significant injuries."

Another example of how the Federal govt. lets an industry self regulate ...
In San Bruno the gasline existed before and was built over. Here we have a dense population and for a better profit margin for themselves, Spectra would like to dig it under our city.
Why are we even having this discussion with Spectra?
That greed can over-ride commonsense has become a national disgrace.

I think Spectra believed that NJ residents would be pushovers if they waved any money at all.... I think they were more afraid of taking on the property owners in Staten Island, Brooklyn, etc. So, the implication is - we can give you the gas but make most of the mess in another state...

I'll bet Spectra will try and come up with some deal with PSEG and say, This will benefit you -- but I'd look real close at any of those proposals.

The real question is why are we STILL bending over backwards for fuel sources that can be dangerous, toxic and scar the landscape. How about a few billion invested in clean energy and real research to make it feasible instead of this falling back onto something that almost guarantees a disaster down the line. Almost a trillion dollars was spent in Iraq. We never get anywhere because politicians love the fossil fuel money they get. (that goes for both parties)

The person who mentioned the proximity of trains carrying tanks of really toxic stuff had a good point. The new version of terrorists have actually lived in this country for some time and know our weak points and any laziness/cost cutting around the security of this gasline will be exactly what they are looking for. How long do you think it will take them to figure this out?

My question exactly. WHY aren't the Turnpike Authority and Port Authority weighing in on this?
This proposed pipeline will be right near the Path train tunnel, Holland tunnel and under the Turnpike extension - critical pieces of infrastructure. Or do they all think us all will continue to pay for corporate made messes if an accident occurs?
