this thread makes me feel embarrassed to consider myself socially liberal.

I'm sending a check to the NRA today. If the country is filled with ppl like those posting here, I'm going with the less of 2 evils.

I'm still waiting to hear how criminals care about gun laws..

btw I'm all for increasing the penalties on those who break the current laws against violent gun crime. significantly. just seems more logical to punish the guilty party and not the 99% of gun owners that don't commit violent crimes.

NJ has a generous Canada Goose hunting policy. There are 2 seasons that are 30 days long. For the winter one, the bag limit is 30 birds per day. Fall is 15 per day. Start buying shotgins.

theres a difference between "carrying a plate" and being a professional server. its insulting to equate the two. you can't teach the ability to handle stress and have a great personality and have a passion for the food you serve.

stop whining and just stick to that culinary bastian of creativity that is Pavonia Newport.

oh and 30 Acres - can you hit us with a vegetarian dish? pretty please?

just a heads up for people in paulus hook - twice this week my dogs have treed 2 large adult raccoons. my dogs were larger but an adult coon could be big trouble for mostly any dog and definitely all cats. something to keep in mind when letting your dogs into the yard or walkin around the neighborhood..

Re: Jersey City cops shoot and kill four dogs

oh now the dogs were attacking the cops, right. its a good thing that thay were such skilled marksmen that they were able to shoot 4 of the dogs simultaneously during an attack on a dark street. right.

i wonder if they'll ever shoot some of the "aggressive" off leash dogs at the morris canal park.

and shooting a cowering, injured dog in the face while it lays at the bottom of the stairs outside someone's front door. bravo. why wait for animal control? the cops are probably just as competent.

since people are interested, I do indeed dismiss any media reference regardless of which side of the argument it supports.

also, the example of me using "anecdotal evidence" is nothing more than my expectation, as noted in the first half of my sentence.

will the intelligence test include reading comprehension?

grovepath, i agree that dog bites are a terrible terrible thing that do a tremendous amount of harm and i further agree that something should be done about it.

The CDC has openly admitted that they use no formalized process or even trained individuals to track these statistics and have even gone so far as to completely retract the dog bite study they put out about 10 years ago.

i cited no evidence (anecdotal or otherwise) and personally do not consider "sourced from media reports" to be sufficiently reliable to be used as factual evidence. The sources cited by the book that catsanddogs posted include mostly scientific/academic studies that have been published.

also, an opinion of yours, whether i agree with it or not, does not show that you know what you are talking about. I'm not necessarily saying you don't but so far we have no real reason to believe you do.

ok people are using wikipedia and yahoo answers as sources to support thier arguments so I'll just wish this little girl the best of luck in her recovery and refrain from engaging in any back and forth here.

i'd never expect my pit bulls or 99.9% of other pit bulls to reliably defend me. they are not guard dogs.

in response to the banning of pit bulls, why do you believe that there are no vets or people who have devoted thier academic, professional or personal lives to the study of dogs that have come out in agreement with a breed ban?

i am yet to see anyone who supports a breed ban with a formal education or professional involvement with animals.

i am a local motorcyclist and i'm willing to bet that i have a higher IQ than that fellow.

also, my bike is not quiet. not that you were implying any direct relationship between the decibel level of a motorcycle and the IQ of its owner. that would just be silly.

a truck that old, with carbeurators, takes some warming up. also an engine of that age sometimes needs to given gas to avoid stalling out.

btw if it was a 1300 that'd make it a late 30's flathead. pretty rare bike and he'd be a jerk to chop it.

been there twice so far. very nicely done renovation. comfortable environment, friendly attentive staff. decent beer selection. kind of like a skinners with cloth napkins. i've only had a couple things off the menu so its hard to judge the food - the sliders sounded a lot better than they tasted but definitely not bad. the burger was decent as were the wings and fried pickles. had a slight order mixup last time i was there but no big deal. crappy z100 type music and random stuff on the tvs but definitely worth putting into the normal rotation. bit of an older crowd.

i have 3 dogs and dont feel bad for any other dogs or dog owners.

i'm all for dogs having fun but i dont want your dog running up on my leashed dogs. my dogs dont like that and they have every right to be left unmolested while in the park.

this thread is so entertaining. i've been getting tacos from P&A since they had the cart parked outside the old sims carpets and never once have i had a negative experience - aside from Moby being a little overly friendly with my gf back in the day.

and btw - by mexico city street food standards, guac is not necessarily authentic

congrats on the baby btw!

also... just a little newsflash to ppl here - 99% of the staff that serves you in restaurants hates you. get over it.

Leash laws apply to this area so if you let your dog swim there, you're in violation.
