Erie and 2nd... and 7th and Jersey are the worst for both drivers and pedestrians...I have almost been t-boned at both intersections numerous times....I try to obey the pedestrian law but have had SO MANY bad experiences with almost being hit from behind ,honked and cursed at...or the worst those who try to just cut around you to mow down the pedestrian you are trying to let cross...as a driver i have to say many pedestrians in JC are not too bright as I have had my heart in my throat because of their poor judgement...my 2 cents worth of complaints

You do not live in this neighborhood obviously mary and if drug dealing does not constitute a serious reason for the police to be around what is a good reason???? we are not talking about innocent victims of police misconduct these young men are a thorn in the side of this development.

4th and Marin do meet. It is inside the Villa Boriquen development. Those of you who walk down Grove may notice how there are many young men who also hang out at 4th and Grove. Police presence is long over due in this neighborhood because drug dealing is an ongoing problem.

Re: Too much lead found in water at 7 schools by Jersey City Board of Education tests.

From my understanding ALL schools were tested.
What is happening is because the testing dates were staggered the results are also coming in piecemeal...I was watching jc cable one night and lead testing was the topic at the board meeting and from what i gathered they are going to
release a report once all the data is complete...

I would think it should be a priority that this be COMPLETE PRIOR to the REOPENING of schools in September.

This is important because the policy is students are not allowed to even bring bottled water into the buildings...What are these children to do drink contaminated water...as it will surely be revealed this has been happening as many of the buildings are OLD and the problem stems from lead plumbing pipes and not the water fountains.

That building is a nothing but a huge eyesore. Nothing is being said about the marina they intend on including, which if I remember correctly will impact the public boat launch in LS Park...Money talks and the city planning board is a joke...
Wait til this course is really used as my car was almost hit by a golf ball a few weeks ago....I see many lawsuits in the future....

So after all the buzz this past week about Nicoles I had to go in after many years of not eating there.....
Food was okay...not even good.....
Got the jerk chicken(bland for jerk and too many pulverized bones...more like stewed chicken) oxtail(never again) mac &cheez(somewhat curdish)
cabbage(how can you ruin cabbage) and rice &peas(okay)

Now I remember why I have not been back...Steam tables and wide open doors = flies

The special sauce is basically Matouks scotch bonnet with vinegar........

Summer is coming and if you are traveling and thinking of having the PO hold your mail DO NOT DO IT....You will never see that mail again or it will emerge months later in bulk with no explanation.....Pay a neighbor to pick up your mail..anything but the PO.....
I have also learned that all parcels MUST be sent thru the JC PO with a tracking #.....costs a bit more $ but it at least provides hope that you may one day receive the package....

WHY is this city still giving tax abatements to developers on the waterfront when it does nothing but line the pockets of said developers...Downtown is going to S@%* ....and is becoming almost unlivable......
The public schools will one day be back in control of the city and the sometimes miserable condition of many schools are only to get worse...Where will the money come from to build new schools or make necessary repairs to older facilities...????? The streets are riddled with potholes and trash.....
But lets give tax abatements to developers for housing that is out of most long time residents reach $$$$.....
Something is dreadfully wrong here....
I have to give Yvonne Balcer a for her long running dedication to this cause of fighting abatements on the waterfront...

Re: Maniac drivers who speed through crosswalks (and stop signs)

i have to say that although pedestrians might have the right of way they also have to be conscious of moving cars and use some common sense.
My favorite offenders are the stroller moms who when crossing have the stroller out in the street before they are sure its safe. As if a stroller is some magical devise that can stop moving vehicles.
Or the folks who you do stop for who walk slower than a geriatric patient, dial cellphones mid street, text message mid street, do not pick up their precous tykes to cross streets when that would be the wise thing to do etc.....
Pedestrians are not always the innocent victims.

I reported the accident immediatly to both of our insurance cos. and here I sit 9 hours later with my car at the body shop and a rental. My stomach is still turning and I have a headache from HELL.....What a day
