Re: No Water in Hamilton Park

Is it normal for a city to have as many water main breaks as JC? I've been here for 10 years and I feel like it is once or twice a year at this point.

Not true. I have parked south of CC on Warren ever since it became zone 4 and it was always 8am-10am. Until a week or so ago.

Earlier Street Sweeping Times??

Just a warning that I received a street sweeping ticket this morning on Warren st (at Columbus). It used to be no parking from 8am-10am. It was randomly changed to 6am-8am. It must have been changed in the last week or so. It is frustrating as I don't look at a street sign every time I park as I assume the time wouldn't change at random and with no warning/letter from JCParking or the city. Not sure what other streets have been changed, but I would check your signs next time you leave your car parked overnight on the street.

My wife and I love this place. Awesome sandwiches and sides and their Vietnamese Cold Brew is out of this world delicious. Hope they stick around for a long while and get the support they deserve. Their sandwiches remind me of Num Pang in Manhattan which we are obsessed with.

Blue Moon is open now. Similar look to Baja, but a bit more warm and brighter inside. Had dinner there last night with my wife. It was Ladies night so she was enjoying the $5 house margaritas. Food was yummy (and much better than Baja in our opinion...we would only ever go to Baja for drinks as we were never impressed with their food). Our waitress was super friendly as well. The owner came over and chatted for a bit and recommended an awesome desert...the Chimmichanga Cheesecake. Man was it delicious! Overall a nice experience!

Stopped by here tonight to grab a quick meal for my wife and I. We both really enjoyed the food, it was delicious! I had the grilled chicken wrap and she had the quinoa chicken bowl. Everything was fresh and tasted healthy (whatever that means...). Overall an awesome addition to downtown JC. They are also open on Saturday afternoons. http://www.greenechutney.com/

Anyone else who lives near St. Peter's prep and the construction site hear the obnoxious union workers protesting every morning starting at 7 with their god awful bull horn? Is the bull horn chanting even legal? They then proceed to blow whistles. It is driving me more insane than the construction noise itself.

They were filming in O'Connell's Bar/Restaurant this evening. Not sure if they were just eating there or if that is where one of them is going to work.

Annoying construction driving us bonkers

There is a renovation happening inside/outside the building connected to ours. We deal with the annoying noise (especially the damn beeping that seems to be constant, as if they sit in reverse the whole time) on the weekedays, but this morning (Saturday) we woke up to it. Are they even allowed to do this type of work on a Saturday?? From the JC code book I found this paragraph:

"Construction, repair or alteration of buildings. The erection (including excavation), demolition, alteration or repair of any building other than between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays, except in case of urgent necessity in the interest of public health and safety, and then only with the permission of the Construction Official. Such a permit may be granted for a period not to exceed three (3) days or less while the emergency continues, and such permit may be renewed for periods of three (3) days or less while the emergency continues. If the Construction Official determines that the public health and safety will not be impaired by the erection, demolition, alteration or repair of any building or the excavation of streets and highways between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and, if he or she shall further determine that loss or inconvenience would result to any party in interest, he or she may grant permission for such work to be done within the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. upon application being made at the time the permit for the work is awarded or during the progress of the work. [106]"

Which does not mention weekends at all. Has anyone had a similar issue and know if it is legal or not?

Well, if you did happen to have the opportunity to go to college, you shouldn't complain about not being able to find a job if you decided to major in something as random as archaeology or insert another odd major here. Part of being a smart student is surveying the job field and picking a major in an area that has the most job potential. I work as a software developer and there is a severe shortage of them...jobs are abundant in this field. If I were going to school now I would think long and hard about going for computer science.

Sweet Potholes!

I just got back from dealing with two blown out driver side tires from an awesome pothole that I hit driving to Target. It was located in the left lane on Washington Street right after crossing over Newport Parkway. I was going about 30mph. I took some photos, hopefully I can get the city to pay for whatever the total will be (getting them replaced tomorrow). These streets suck assphalt.

Re: Downtown: Debit Card Fraud at Chase Bank

Just read this. This happened to me as well and I can say with 100% certainty that it was the teller machine at this Chase branch. I only ever use my debit card to make ATM withdraws (never use it for regular purchases or debit purchase, I use credit card for that so I dont have to be out money if someone gets my CC info). I few months ago I made a deposit here and had to swipe my debit card and enter my pin at the teller. A few weeks ago, boom, money taken out of an ATM in Paris. They refunded my money for me, but shouldn't corporate Chase be looking closer at this branch to find the corrupt employee that helped rig this thing?

Just got home at 5am and asked the officer in the car if there is anything I should know about since I live at 99 Montgomery and he said it was just construction. I don't know if that was the truth or not.

Does anyone know if the surveillance video was released? And is his jacket green or black in the photos? Earlier this year I was walking out of my stairwell at 99 Montgomery on the east side of the building and saw a man (who I didn't think belonged in the building) turning around to walk back down the stairs as I turned the corner. I started a conversation with him about the weather as to not make it a dangerous situation and he proceeded to walk out of the door in front of me. He had on a dark green puffy jacket from what I can recall. A bit scary now looking at the similarities. I hope he get what he deserves.
