Trade school for medical assts

Does anyone remember the trade school in Jersey city in back of the old social security building? Across from monte de Leon bakery...I'm sure I butchered the name. Anyway, it was where they sent welfare recipients to get a trade? It was right next to the old day care center that was by huron st. I believe it was closed due to fraud. I would really appreciate any insight

Has anyone taken an upholstery class?

I wanted to re-upholster my recliner. Their rates were 330 for labor PLUS fabric that started at 200. That's more than a new recliner. So I thought why not take a class and upholster my own furniture.

Does anyone know of a class nearby? Have you take a course and have any information to share?

Personally I am glad I dont have to pump my own gas. I tried that in PA and ended up with gas all over my feet, pants and hands. No thank you. I will calmly wait in line for my turn and stay inside my car while someone else does it for me. lol

You've got a great man on your team Mayor Healy. Mr. Gonzalez is known in our community for caring for his neighbors. There's the foodbank, the shows they offer for free, the free Bible school, the music/dance school, the list goes on and on. He helps those that are part of his congregation and those that come to him for help. He does not discriminate.

Just had a friend call and said that she heard a new building just opened up in downtown and the name started with an A. Yes they are a bit ditzy but she said that she overheard its the new swanky place to be. Not sure what that means but we are looking to relocate to a new place so if anyone knows the name of this new building and the address it would be highly appreciated. :)

This is a bit offtopic but I need help. There's a bus driver that is continuously disrespectful. She continues to bypass us while we wait. The last time she even closed the door in my face and took off. I am at my wits end. I have called a few times to NJ transit to complain. I dont think they do anything about it. Is there a way to get this rude woman to do her job?

I am going thru the same thing. I was told by the realtor and management company that I have to deal with it or sell. which in this market would mean I would lose like 20k and I bought it at a ridiculously low price to begin with.

In any case, I am going to keep a close eye on this thread to see what answers you get.

p.s. thank the Lord that they do not have a rocking chair. yeah that's fun to hear for hours at a time! or better yet their chained up yappy dog jumping off the bed and dragging the 20lb chain in the middle of the night or just as you are drifting off to sleep.

Has anyone found a hypnotist in Jersey city and had some success with having bad habits reversed? The internet has so much information and I would like some "real" people to answer my question, as opposed to reading from some fictitious person made up by the actual hypnotist to get my money. thank you for your help in advance. Thanks. :)

no...this neighborhood has LOTS of bodegas, a mexican restaurant, a pizza joint, a spanish rest, some hair cutting places, an old jewelry shop, a sneaker shop, 3 laundromats, the new fire station, a daycare place. its not hoboken but its certainly has a few choices to go eat or shop. and central avenue is a few blocks up so you can get some food up there.

Not sure about the salary, but we have a full time super and we have a 60 unit building. I think you should take stock of what is being required of the super. General maintenance meaning keeping the rugs clean and the property maintained vs. asking them to repair walls or replace the treds in the hallway or electrical/plumbing work. you should be fair to this person because 50 units may not seem like alot but for 1 person to maintain it might.

well I lived at 450 palisade for many many years. I wouldnt live there again or on that block if they paid me. IM me if you are going to see these places tonite.

It's not a horrible place. there is the park right across the street that of course draws the younger generation, however, compared to where you live now I would totally move to this area. there's the washing machine's right on the corner and they close about 10 pm.

also remember that right on palisade and griffith I believe is where that landlord tried to bomb the place...so again be careful and try to read NJ.com for updates on this area.

I can honestly say that the video turned my stomach. I am going to throw up. I'm ashamed of what our youth has become. And I pray that my own nieces/nephews dont turn out like a bunch of animals. I hope that the kids..yes they are kids...involved are ok and that they learn from their mistakes!

HI - check out cityline church. Its really good. It's not humongous but the worship/praise is awesome.

Also if you are up to a long bus ride or a pretty fast lite rail ride you can check out antoher church on 51st and kennedy boulevard. The name escapes me at the moment but I have to tell you that next to Times Square church where the worship/praise is earth shattering, this would be a close 3rd!

Or if you can go to the city check out times square church in the heart of times square -- 50th and 8th ave. the worship/praise is earth shattering. the Word from the pulpit is pure.

God bless you and blessings on your hunt for a "home" church.

Hey - since when do we need to feed the meters on Sunday??? I thought that Sunday was a free day.

Also where is Morton Williams?? I've never seen it. Im sorry that you had to go thru that aggravation. It's hard to have to pony up 150 bucks to a bunch of dolts that just wait around to prey on the innocent or unaware.

Ok I might get creamed for this, but my biggest pet peave is when Im dog tired after a long day and I cant find a seat cause suzie q. citizen has brought her 5 babies aboard and they have taken all the seats. I love kids...I should since I have a few and a grandson, but this is a pet peave of mine.

Also I saw teddy the other day. OmG. He looked terrible. He had his hair long under a dirty cap, dirty sneakers, an oil stained paper bag and he was asking for money for food. He's really taken a turn for the worse. :(

Smashed Car Window on Mercer

I saw a car that had a smashed driver side window this morning on mercer. I felt so bad. I wish they could build a HUGE garage so that people wouldnt have to park on the streets and their cars would be safe. Here's hoping they catch whomever broke these windows!

Is there any way to have camera's installed on the streets? I mean I know I'll get reamed by the big brother watching us people, but something must be done. Who knows if the owner of the car that was broken into this morning will be able to afford a new window. I just feel so bad about it. Cant anything be done?

Dentist Recommendation

Im interested in finding a dentist that uses general anesthesia. Im a HUGE chicken and I just found out that I have 5 cavities (albeit small ones between my teeth) that have got to be filled in. I was very tense during the check up so the dentist "suggested" that G.A. is the way to go. So Im turning to my JC List family for help.

So speak up and let me know what dentist you know that uses this procedure for chickens like moi. :)

Re: how dangerous is the heights?
#27

I've lived in the heights for 24 years. The quality of life has changed. I used to feel safe walking the streets. However, after reading the JJ I no longer feel safe. I use to live on Fleet and Concord. Towards the end of my stay there I felt very afraid and would rather get in my car and shop at a big supermarket than go to the corner store. Honestly if you have a car, I would suggest you go down there a few times on a Friday night and a Saturday night and kinda park for like an hour or so in dif areas around your condo. Just to kinda see for yourself what type of people come around.

Teenagers are getting very aggressive, but I also started noticing that even the 9-13 crowd has been getting a little crazy. I decided to move the nite that I woke up and found some 10 year old literally climbing my security gate in the kitchen to break into my apt. I screamed so loud that I startled them all and I heard them running! A neighbor witnessed the entire thing.

So my 2 cents are for you to be careful and really check out the neighborhood. The block you are speaking about isnt so bad. Normally it can be a bit deserted. But again check it out for yourself. Remember the park is right around the corner and with summer approaching the ball game changes!!

Best of luck!

Re: Boyajian Law Offices and our Taxes??

My daughter believes in the general goodness of all people. She never ONCE suspected it was fake. They had the office set up, clients coming and going. Her dept was collections. She wasnt very aggressive which is why we thought she was "laid off".

I called the IRS and they basically said that she needs to have at least ONE pay stub, so that they could get the employer/federal ID number. They will try to track them down. In the meantime, she can ask for an extension. They also suggested we hit up the unemployment people and see if they would be willing to give us a print out of the information they captured to be able to pay her benefits. So that they could sorta recreate a w-2 for her.

What a pickle!!

Boyajian Law Offices and our Taxes??
#29

Quite a regular

My daughter worked for this group for about 6 months last year. She was laid off for 3 weeks while they relocated to Secaucus. She was never called back, so we figured that it was just their way of getting rid of her.

Fast forward to this year, we were waiting for a w-2 and it never came! We began to investigate and found out that these people are not truly lawyers. That they are scam artists and closed down because the AG is investigating them.

So what do we do now? She paid her taxes and so forth but never kept her pay stubs. How do we file if we dont have a w-4.

Please help. Thanks in advance!

I have been going to this tax place for years. They do my NY/NJ taxes. I cannot say if they know other state laws, but they have always served me well. BTW, I went saturday and I got my check on Monday. Not bad right? :)

JRK Business Services
548 Westside Avenue
(corner of Lexington Ave)
Jersey City, NJ 07304
Tel: 201-985-2950/2951

Ask to see Roland (he's the main guy) but be prepared to wait a few hours. I waited 3 hours to see him. Also bring plenty of quarters for the meter and allow yourself up to 30 mins to find parking. It's a busy place!

Good luck!
