People who are so self-absorbed with themselves - who cannot believe that an animal life is important - I feel sorry for you. Steve, you sound way too self-interested and smug to care about God's creatures big and small. You do not stop to smell the roses - you are probably always in a rush - thus missing so much in life. As I write this I am reminded of a story I'd read - about a guy who saw a Mother duck and her babies crossing a highway - he cared so much for them that he got out of his truck (he was a trucker) in order to lead them to safety and ended up being killed. Most people are just living to make the "almighty" dollar - and doing anything to get it - but really the best things in life are free. Why don't you have an open and loving heart and stop putting others down for caring.

Tippy, sorry to butt in but just a few questions,

If one is self-absorbed isn't it safe to assume this means one is absorbed with one's self?

Were you only reminded of the story you'd read as you'd wrote this?

How did this man getting out of his truck (who was a trucker) come to care for the Mother duck and her "babies" so much that he "ended up being killed"?

How was he killed? Who killed him and what was the motive?

Can you tell me where they are giving away the best things in life for free?

and finally, who is Steve?

"These were domestic young ducklings that would not have survived outdoors not to mention being abused by anyone who tried."

----Who is to say the ducks couldn't survive? Ducks are tough, they eat grass, insects, worms and small amphibians. Plenty of food for them in a park.

or are there actually duckling abusers lurking in parks near Bayonne that you are aware of?
---------------------------------------------
"Another report of LIberty Animal Control not responding to a cat hit by a car near the Powerhouse. The cat was suffering terribly so another good samaritan stepped up and took the cat to a vet. Liberty Animal control responded 12 hours after the initial call."

----It isn't Animal Control's job to provide ambulance service for injured cats. Sounds like Good Samaritan did this job anyway. It is however Animal Control's job to remove road kill, which is probably why they showed up 12 hours later to see if the cat made it.
------------------------------------------

"This is not acceptable for our animals."

----These aren't my animals or your animals.

Thank the Lordy they finally paved it. Smooth as silk...80% quieter now. Well worth dealing with all the jack hammers.

Hopefully next thing on the agenda is speed traps and fines for honking horns.

Is it me or has anyone else noticed the oversized uniforms many of the JC police choose to wear? Just this morning on Marin Blvd. I saw two more officers with pants 4" too long and shirts that were 2 sizes too big. There must be regulations they need to adhere to when it comes to size of their unifroms. Pure sloppiness in my opinion.

BTW: A beer garden with plastic steins, LAME!

plastic steins... ABSOLUTELY lame... agreed!!

(not to mention the garrison of no neck security goons in black t-shirts rimming the perimeter...what is it...a beer hall or concentration camp?)

yes, amazing selection of beers...that's one of the things that makes it lame... and "best out side of the beer garden" is nothing to brag about, the beer garden is even more lame than LITM

You're certainly entitled to an opinion, but please know that there are many people who think that an amazing selection of beer is what makes a bar good. And I said "outside of the beer garden" in reference to the selection of beer ... not in overall quality of the bar.

Is this your 3rd, or 4th screen name on JClist?

--------------

Why? are you the JC List thought police?

an "amazing selection of beer" will never counteract a bar's lameness factor.

I think Tommy has a really distorted perception of:

3. Posturing aside, how much sleep he'll truly lose when the lower income earning ethnic population of downtown JC moves out to those "other" parts of JC he has hardly ever driven through.

Did i miss anything?

What exactly is an "ethnic population"?

More than likely it all came from a big kid or a big dog belonging to the people who use the park the most.

Can't blame everything on the one or two homeless people left in the area.

Boy that must have been some exciting morning at the jungle gym!

I've noticed it happening more since the gentrification began and the new population increase. I\'ve seen youth on roof tops throwing eggs and objects at people.

I know one person actually punched in what seemed to be initiation ritual and class or racially motivated attack.

Don't mean to frighten or alarm anyone new to the area but this does happen.
