If ever a 'park' needed to be replaced by a yuppie condo building, that is the spot.

The optimist in me says "Very good news".

The pessimist in me says, "Easy police target with dependably good results, aka: "Election Year Crackdown".

When the article itself says what we all already know; "Downtown park known for drug dealing", one has to ask what is different now versus the past 30 years other than a mayor whose town has recently been a blaze of gunfire and murder needing something positive talk about?

And just in time for his State of the City address.

Per the other point, sure you may read about some losing votes that I have had and it is frustrating for certain. However, if someone wants to make the argument that because I don?t vote for a waterfront tax abatement and lose 7-2 when the mayor is advocating for approval, or that I lose 8-1 when I believe we should be in a hiring freeze, or that the integrity of the arts district is important, well that is just beliefs I have that I won?t change for the sake of conforming so that I could have been on the winning side of a vote. Would it have been better if I went along with these votes so I can be on the winning end of a vote that I or many of our constituents don?t agree with? That?s just not what I believe.

This is EXACTLY why Fulop should be re-elected and why he should have gone for the Mayor's office.

To all those who complain about the 'machine', the back-door political BS and the overwhelmingly amateurish approach this city takes toward governance, you need to decide what Jersey City you really want.

"no money". And that's where this 'vision' will stop.

Seriously, I've been in JC since 1988 and this is like the 4th version of an idea for Journal Square.

It's all BS.

It's because this is the "good part" that this stuff is happening. The thugs know this is where the "good stuff" is and that the owner's of the "good stuff" aren't going to out up much resistance.

And the light rail has become a crime pipeline.

If you are using what's posted here as your guide on where to live, I'm sorry, but you need to expand your reach as to research.

The location was CLEARLY stated in the news article which was posted in-full. Don't base your knowledge of an issue on just a headline. Read the paper instead of just getting your news here. You don't need to buy the paper; it's all on-line.

I knew I remembered the name Guy Catrillo!

Remember the Jersey City 9/11 ceremony where they planned to release doves but could only find poultry pigeons who, when released, couldn't fly and were crashing people and buildings and had to be rescued?

ANOTHER INCOMPETENT BEING TAPPED TO "RUN" THINGS!

You know what? With all due respect to how you like to add the location to the headlines, I've gotten to the point where it doesn't matter. Bergen-Lafayette, Greenville, COLES STREET, THE MALL, wherever.

It's all JERSEY CITY.

Like it or not, and as we've seen all too often and recently, the crime does not magically stop at the turnpike. It's everywhere, and the sooner all the "It's great downtown" crowd (I've lived downtown since '88) get over what the realtors and NYT told them, the better.

It's getting to be a daily thing in this dump of a town:

Jersey City teen shot in face as she leaves laundromat
by The Jerey Journal
Monday February 09, 2009, 8:24 PM

A 16-year-old Jersey City girl was shot in the jaw today as she left a public laundry, officials said.

Shot in the face by a single bullet around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Communipaw Avenue and Van Horne Street, the girl suffered a serious, but not life threatening wound, police said.

Police said they have no motive for the shooting, no suspects, and are not convinced the girl was the intended target.

"We are relying on eyewitnesses to come forward," city spokesman Stan H. Eason said about the ongoing investigation, adding the girl has been interviewed by police.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Jersey City Police Department tipline at (201) 547-JAIL.
