Your best bet is to park in one of the garages/lots in the area - probably about $200/month. Don't try parking in the reserved area or you'll get a ticket and a boot on your car. Sorry.

Apparently there's a lot of Bible thumping rednecks in California - well at least 51%-worth!! (I always wondered why California was nick-named the "Golden State")

jillianp - if you (or Ms. Mitchell) don't need the piece of paper, then why is this an issue? Oh, I guess you just want to impose (or ram down our throats) your values.

Typical bleeding-heart liberal people here - it's YOUR way or it's wrong.

"Is anyone else troubled by our govenor's recent position on this issue?"

NO!!!

It's a moral issue, not a civil rights issue. Stop already - the people of California spoke (voted), they didn't want gay marriage. The issue is OVER. People will complain the tactics that were used (e.g., the Mormon Church), but that's what every side resorts to and nothing illegal was done. When you lose an election/referendum, you can't cry and stomp your feet just because it didn't turn out the way that you wanted it to.

The economy is headed for the toilet and this what government has to worry about??? New Jersey has many and much more urgent issues than this - if this is at the top of your list, then move or go to Mass. and get married there - NO ONE is stopping you from doing that!!!

Check your condo association by-laws. Normally yes, the developer would pay the fees as soon as the association is formed.

Box of Cracker Jacks - they have (or used to) the little tattoos that you lick and then apply - if you don't like it, soap & water does the job!

Re: Barack Obama for President

To date, BO's choices for his staff are totally underwhelming and disappointing to say the least. All of his campaign talk about change was BS - he's appointing members of his campaign staff and former Clinton administration people - doesn't sound like much will change in Washington with essentially the same cast of characters that have been entrenched in politics for decades. How can you expect things to be different with the same people making the decisions for this country? The voters took the bait and now we'll all have to live with it.

Is Alice Galmann for real, saying that things could redound significantly between now and Spring 2009? Where has she been for the past two months!! It will be at least another year before things start to get better and it won't be significantly better.

"She said even the election of new president may help settle a volatile market, now that people know what?s ahead." Yeah, since the election, the stock market has tanked another 10%, so THAT will help the housing market for sure.

All of these realtors are drinking the Kool-Aid!

50 Columbus

Saw a sign over the weekend - a new restaurant called Teppan is opening soon at 50 Columbus (around the corner from the new Chase branch). Teppan will be a Japanese hibachi place. Too bad, would have been nice to see something different since there are a few Japanese places already downtown and Sawa a few blocks away, although who knows when (if?) Sawa will open?

Xerxes, save some for me, I'm right behind you! No way is Trump 85% sold - take a look at it at night (there's hardly any lights on), it MIGHT be 50% if that. Sure, people bought to rent out, but looking at Craig's List a lot of flippers must be sorry now.

Re: Any thoughts? Most of California's Black & Latino Voters Backed Gay Marriage Ban
Home away from home

As far as legislating morality - yes you can, you've been living through it before this Proposition - you cannot have multiple wives or husbands, you cannot have relations with a minor, etc. - these are all moral issues that some religions or cultures find acceptable. When gov't or the majority of the public finds such behavior as unaccepting then you legislate against allowing it. If it weren't for laws, some people would live like animals. I'm not passing comment on this particular issue of gay marriage, just pointing out the issue of "legislating morality". Obviously the majority of people were uncomfortable with it (due to religious, personal beliefs, etc.) so it did not pass. What might be moral to one person is not necessarily moral to the next.

Corzine's a big bust - an outsider that turned into a typical Jersey politico. Go call and e-mail your girlfriend Mr. Gov., you're better at that than reviving Jersey's economy. Corzine doesn't want to drill off of Jersey's coast, doesn't encourage wind power off of the coast, doesn't want to lure any big business to Jersey but wants to the citizen/taxpayer to keep footing the ever-increasing bill.

Loopy, we don't need a book to tell us when are rights are being trampled on, or worse yet, taken away. Besides, with Obama's higher taxes, we won't be able to afford to buy books.

Hey all of you Obama lovers - this is what you'll get in a few days - special interest groups supported by Obama/Democraps that want to re-write the Constitution.

Be advised that if you do fight it, you'll likely have to wait several hours for your case to be heard. I tried to argue a ticket a few years ago, showing up on the court date on time and then sat for several hours - I got frustrated waiting and just paid the damn thing. But, you will hear some pretty good stories/excuses for the cases that go before you.

It's on the inside of the building but udrankwhat brings up good points about getting access to a spot to install. I could imagine that older buildings might not have the accessability and the pipes are probably old, complicating the job.

Backflow preventers are required in all new contruction so it's no surprise that it's now being required in existing buildngs. Costwise, if it's more than several hudred dollars per BFP, you're getting ripped off.
