Before the sentencing yesterday, Harley's mother, Denise Brown, asked the judge for leniency, I'd like you to know, regardless of what other people say, my son is a good person and he was raised beautifully," Brown told the court.

Some good tips for the Councilperson-at-large to say to the Judge about her son, who got caught with drugs!

Does Michael Yun own a Chinese restuarant?

Being desensitized to crime with lower expectations to crime control, have changed in the past 5 years with the influx of new residents with different values and socioeconomic means, who have made the move and investment into the downtown area. Stupid comment from Comey I think.

The gang of kids wearing white t-shirts on bikes roaming Hamilton Park are keeping clear of a new gang that has emerged and in control of Van Vorst Park. Let the turf war begin! The gang from Van Vorst Park are know as the 'Park Masters', and here is a picture of them caught on CCTV.

You have to be fcuking kidding me. Camera's for dumping trash in public trash cans, but Cops and City Hall don't have camera's to make our streets safer from being mugged, robbed or people with ass driving skills and total disregard for road rules. Stupid cop bosses and stupid council and a stupid use of resources that should be directed to more important issues.

All this effort makes me think it was personal or yes, racial - it would be no skill to work out who was dumping trash and simply wanted hard proof, it was the Chinese Restaurant.

Re: A letter to Fulop addressing the concerns of education in JC
Home away from home

If the parents rally together and get involved - the principal's departure will only be a bump in the road for your childrens education. I would make it clear to the new principal, that parents do have an expectation and prepared to participate for positive development and learning for their kids. Start a PTA if there isn't one already!

What was scary for me as a kid, was the fact my mom got involved beyond the call of duty and knew all the teachers names that dealt with me and their phone numbers. She also had a list of all my friends and their numbers too. These days it appears that kids are sent to school and parents cross their fingers and hope for the best.

I'll never forget when the 'old man' visited the school and wanted to know what the school was doing to help me improve my math skills and what could be done at home. He 'chewed them out' and an after school class was setup for kids needing improvement at the school - there was a small fee, but I still recall both my parents very proactive in my schooling - especially in primary school.

My little reflection highlights what an influence or 'force' a parent or group of parents do have with education.
I look forward to impersonating John Candy from 'Uncle Buck' visiting the principal, if my child is floundering at school or the school is not providing added help OR direction to ease the stress of learning for my child.

Re: Liberty Harbor North

check-list on any apartment or home you wish to purchase:

Are those appliances energy efficient and rated?

Are the floors cheap parquetry flooring or hardwood floors and do they have any noise dampeners between them and the concrete slab?

Are the doors and skirting boards made from solid timbers or cheap particle board composite? Are the kitchen cabinets and vaniety units made from the same cheap stuff?

Is the heating and cooling units insulated and energy rated?

Double glazing should be standard on all windows. (including balcony glass doors)

Are the walls insulated or have noise proofing qualities?

Gas is cheaper then electricity - is the burners and oven on gas?

With some of the 'expensive' well built apartments they will also insulated / noise proof all the plumbing as well.

What security is in place - lighting around the building, garage, front door with CCTV that you can access / view from your apartment etc.

Are all the common areas built using the same energy efficient equipment and are they using quality fittings and fixtures - including carpets, lighting, heating and cooling, elevators, electric roller doors for the garage etc. If they purcahse and use cheap products that look good but high maintenance, guess who will being paying for repairs or high running costs?

The list is never ending - don't be fooled by cosmetic features. Your goal is to buy a fuel efficent, maintenance free apartment with low overheads for your investment dollar.

PS, Ask if you can get a copy of the plans - you want a copy of what's below, above and next door. You don't want the upstairs laundry to be over your bedroom or the neighbors toilet next to the lounge etc.

I am pleased that the thorough investigation that led to this arrest and perhaps the closing of a violent criminal case did initiate in our office, showing our professionalism and objectivity when it comes to the police," Police Chief Tom Comey said in a news release.

I hope they don't find the conditions and grub in jail better then the senior center!

I wish the Police would put the same effort and resources to some other issues as well.

PS, The average age of these notorious 10, is 66 years old - I'm surprised the Mayor didn't offer to lend a helping hand to arrest them!

Police have charged two criminals with murdering a Jersey City man who was gunned down on a Heights street corner, and investigators say they aimed to rob the victim of drugs and money.

Cruz, who is formerly of Bayonne, was on probation for a West New York drug conviction at the time of his death, and several bags of suspected marijuana were found on him after the shooting, DeFazio said.

It should have read, Two criminals killed a known drug dealer. It is believed that the criminals aim was to mug the dealer for his money and marijuana.

Who said there was no social impact on the use or sale of marijuana might want to talk to the dead guys family or the people who might have witnessed it and others that had to remove the body and clean the blood off the sidewalk?

It would be nice if ALL the neighborhood associations had their own forum subheading here. It would be a great idea to share ideas and keep everyone informed.
It would go along way with being transparent and 'open' to the residents. Nothing like one stop 'shopping'!

It would also give control of deletes, ban etc, to a third party.

It might be a silly idea, but a lot of major private companies and businesses do require a police check and drug test. They can't risk their employee's doing something stupid that could cause any legal or compensation issues for themselves.

Are you suggesting that her 'contituents' are likely to be more upset that their supplier got caught then any association with the councilwoman? That's just so funny and could be right! This could be a ward that another aspiring person that wishes to be a councilwoman might like to move to.

Sure we need housing funds.

Just look at the cars we drive or their components, the clothes we wear (check your tags), the computer or t.v we use and just about everything else you touch or use. Its all made overseas by non-skilled or semi-skilled workers that Amercians used to do. Corporations and Governments that are driven by profits are missing the point of maintaining our work force that are given away to other nations in the pursuit of the dollar.

Every aspect of life and living should be subsidized for the individual, like they are for big business by the government.

It's not a bad idea, I've only built a low height partition where the bike and truck park and tall (7 foot) partitions that don't make the ceiling where my bedroom, kitchen and bathroom is. My goal is to construct something that resembles the apartment from the movie 'Big Daddy' but on a slightly bigger scale.

The idea has some merits and could be rewarding, but my home is my castle and sanctuary.
