It's gonna happen people. This is crazy. I hope we put in a system so that this happens more frequently so there are not the huge disruptions that this will potentially cause.

Reval Notices and Brochures To Go Out With Tax Bills & Tax Advice Notices

The City of Jersey City is about to begin the process of revaluing all properties within the City. Property owners will receive a letter from Mayor Healy and the brochure, ?Understanding Property Revaluations: Frequently Asked Questions? in the mail along with their quarterly tax bill or tax advice notice.

For more in-depth information on the Reval, property owners are encouraged to contact the City?s Reval Hotline at 201-547-4538 or visit the City Tax Assessor?s page,?Property Revaluation:An Overview and Frequently Asked Questions?.

Yeah, because the only good people in this city live downtown. ignoramus.

Also, Lord knows McCann has done some dirt in this town and this job at the Incinerator Authority reaks of patronage, but the fact that he is an ex-con is not reason enough to deny him or any other ex-offender the opportunity to make a living. Understand me, I'm not saying that McCann should work at the Incinerator Authority or hold elected office. But if someone (anyone) has served their time, they shouldn't be denied work.

The food is comparable to Al's and Coachhouse. Their diners, I don't see how they can differentiate much in terms of food. I have always been treated well at The Jersey City Diner (Colonette) I disagree about the service comment above.

I went there shortly after they reopened and the owner was very nice and proud of the changes, he even offered to show me all the upgrades in the kitchen, which I happily surveyed.

Tiger Schulmann=McDojo, not good.

With that being said I would agree with the posters who recommend a grappling art for the kiddies. Much more fun. I passed a storefront in Bayonne offering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but I couldn't find anything on the web.

But one of the best Judo clubs in the area is nearby in North Bergen... Tech Judo

Interesting ideas. I am in no way affiliated with JCFridays. You seem to care about this, why not get involved? You could consult or help organize. Or be chairman of the pamphlet committee or whatever.

Yesterday morning I was riding the train during rush hour. I was in the second car from the front near where the conductor stands. The entire time from Newport to Christopher St. the conductor was flirting with one of the female passengers. We pulled into Christopher St. and as you know that means the conductor has to move into the front car in order to open the doors on the other side of the train. As the train was stopped in the station the conductor continued to flirt with this lady for almost another minute while passengers started staring and wondering why the doors weren't opening. Unreal.

I think that is a beautiful thing that shows humanity. In Italy (or was it Brazil?) the bus driver actually got out of the bus to go try to kick it to a woman who was on his bus who he had talked to a bit. The passengers applauded.

That is cool. Be human. Love is in the air. Don't hate just because you ain't getting any.

I have on numerous occasions seen the conductors ask people to remove themselves from that space - I thought as a courtesy I would make them aware that they might be asked to move and it might not be best place to stand - I was pretty friendly about it to. They got pissed at me!

The woman gave me a nasty look and said they have been riding in this spot all week and were never asked to move - I was like, 'What do I know, I have only been riding the PATH for years.'

To my chagrin the conductor never appeared - oh well - but two of their retarded children tried riding along without holding onto something - both fell into other people on the train - idiots.

How about doing me a favor and going home.

Inner Paths to Outer Space: Journeys to Alien Worlds through Psychedelics and Other Spiritual Technologies

by Rick Strassman, M.D., Slawek Wojtowicz, M.D., Luis Eduardo Luna, Ph.D., and Ede Frecska, M.D.

Join us on July 11 @ 7pm for an evening with authors Slawek Wojtowicz, MD and Ede Frecska, MD as they discuss and sign copies of their new book (co-written with Rick Strassman, MD and Luis Eduardo Luna), Inner Paths to Outer Space: Journeys to Alien Worlds through Psychedelics and Other Spiritual Technologies. In addition to the book discussion and signing, Dr. Wojtowicz, who is also an amazingly talented sci-fi artist, will display some of his latest artwork. You don't wanna miss this event!

About the book:

An investigation into experiences of other realms of existence and contact with otherworldly beings:

* Examines how contact with alien life-forms can be obtained through the "inner space" dimensions of our minds

* Presents evidence that other worlds experienced through consciousness-altering technologies are often as real as those perceived with our five senses

* Correlates science fiction's imaginal realms with psychedelic research

For thousands of years, voyagers of inner space?spiritual seekers, shamans, and psychoactive drug users?have returned from their inner imaginal travels reporting encounters with alien intelligences. Inner Paths to Outer Space presents an innovative examination of how we can reach these other dimensions of existence and contact otherworldly beings. Based on their more than 60 combined years of research into the function of the brain, the authors reveal how psychoactive substances such as DMT allow the brain to bypass our five basic senses to unlock a multidimensional realm of existence where otherworldly communication occurs. They contend that our centuries-old search for alien life-forms has been misdirected and that the alien worlds reflected in visionary science fiction actually mirror the inner space world of our minds. The authors show that these "alien" worlds encountered through altered states of human awareness, either through the use of psychedelics or other methods, possess a sense of reality as great as, or greater than, those of the ordinary awareness perceived by our five senses.

About the authors:

Slawek Wojtowicz, M.D., is a medical oncologist working in the pharmaceutical industry in Edison, New Jersey, a science fiction illustrator, and the author of Daydreaming.

Ede Frecska, M.D., is chief of psychiatry at the National Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Budapest, Hungary, and a contributing author to Psychedelic Medicine.

The tall building on the corner of Columbus and Barrow contains Lex Galleries one of the last, but probably most active and vibrant, art scenes in the city.

For this reason it is an excellent candidate for destruction.

Re: Barack Obama for President

I heard a very interesting perspective on the media's bias towards Barack Obama's so-called lack of experience. The pundit pointed out that when John Edwards ran for President in 2004 there was not a focus on his lack of experience despite the fact that at that point Edwards had a comparable amount of experience as Obama does now.

Edwards' first job in politics was his election to the Senate in 1998, let's say his campaign for the 2004 Presidency started in 2003, that would give him 5 years of experience in the Senate.

Obama served in the Illinois State Legislature from 1997 to until his election to the US Senate in 2004. This gives him 7 total years working as a politician and 3 years as a US Senator when his presidential campaign began. Before his election to the State Legislature he worked in community organizing among other positions.

Although Edwards did have 2 more years in the US Senate their level of experience at the beginning of their first Presidential Campaign was comparable. However, Edwards, during the first campaign was not derided nearly as much as Obama for his "lack of experience." The pundit on NPR suggested that this was because of Mr. Obama's race. Discuss.

Wait a minute, wait a minute....

Let me get this straight, if I go in there with my friend Ed and we both order meals but Ed gives me a couple of french fries and......the waiter sees me take the fries off his plate????.........then we get charged for sharing?????

Someone needs to get on the phone with this place and clarify pronto.

Brownstone diner rots! ok, not really - my husband and I loved it and went all the time...but then, one sad sad day - we got our check and were charged a $4 plate sharing charge. why, you may ask? well, he ordered a regularly priced meal and I ordered a couple sides and drink (totaling only $5 or so)...but here's the tricky part - I ate a few bites of his pancake and literally two bites of sausage.

I'm all for weird restaurant policies, IF you let the customer know...I ordered the minimum amount required (I think it's 5)...so if I'm not allowed to eat off his plate, then they should have come over with a plate - said, "here's a plate for you, and it comes with a $4 charge"...just let me know of your crazy rules. I thought plate sharing charges only applied to people who didn't order anything or ordered a small amount.

so - we paid it, much to my anger! (we had little cash, otherwise, I would've just left cash, minus the $4 and walked out - but we had to put it on a debit card)...my hubby told the owner that we would never be back...she said, "fine." what?! we were such loyal patrons - spent a lot of money there - and we are good tippers and don't expect much. even when the waitstaff was extremely unattentive at times - we still didn't complain.

oh well - we've now written off two JC establishments: Hard Grove - cuz it just plain sucks now. and Brownstone. Thank God for the Coach House which rocks my socks.

All I can say is "You ain't seen nothing yet"

If you think it is bad now wait until people move to the monstrosity known as Grove Pointe. They will be "Residents" so your plan will be to no avail with them. Yes they will have parking but they can still get a sticker for when their friends come to visit, not to mention all the other units going on line.

I think it would be a good idea for those living in the high rises to be prohibited from applying for permit stickers, since their buildings provide parking. But how do you do that?

Antony Santos, el mayimbe de los mayimbes, el rey de la Bachata, toco' a noche en Sandbar en Jersey City. Antony Santos, as I'm sure you all know, is widely acclaimed to be one of the greatest Bachateros of all time. Last night Jersey City had the honor and pleasure to host this amazing artist. The crowd was lively, enthusiastic and good-humored as they awaited El Mayimbe?s arrival onstage. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, his set began very late, which resulted in his performance being cut short due to the 2 AM close-down policy of the State of New Jersey. Of course, the organizers should have planned for this but it was regrettable that a special exemption to the regulations could not have been made for a musician of Antony Santos? caliber. Although his presentation was short it was very enjoyable and well done. http://www.iasorecords.com/index.cfm?subsecid=115

That link to the park in Hoboken made me very sad, I used to play in that park as a kid. I was surprised at my emotional reaction to the pictures of the tree cut down.

Anyway, what are the chances of a picnic area in Hamilton park where you could spread a blanket and enjoy the sun where dogs were strictly prohibited so that you wouldn't have to chill in dog urine?
