Nothing is wrong with getting compliments, per se. It's the act of actively seeking them out is what I don't like.

I certainly like receiving compliments, when others deem necessary. I won't run around saying "look what I did" in order to get them.

Quite the opposite. I don't hate what he did at all, I rather admire it. It's the self-serving fashion in which he had to run home and post about it. Do what you need to do, then go on about your day. Even the title reeks of self-praise. "I Made the Streets of JC a Bit Safer." , instead of something like, "One less Drunk Driver on the streets."

What stereotype did I use to describe the inhabitants of said castl...err.. Beacon. I described the COMPLEX itself as being castle-like, which I believe it is. I don't consider that to be a bad thing. I happen to like the old architecture and design of old European castles.

You guys are focusing on the fact that it "takes away" one street parking space, but in fact, all it does is move it, or even open up a couple more.

Before he had the driveway, he parked in the street. That was one less street parking spot for everyone else.

With the driveway, he then parks his car in his driveway, moving the spot he occupied elsewhere on the street, to the front of his house. He then has the potential to park one, maybe even two more cars in the driveway. Still only taking up one "street spot", but fitting 3 cars in it. That opens up two more "street spots".

Those who complain about how it looks from their window? Can't really say I have much compassion for you. It's his property and he can pretty much do what he wants, within reason. It's not like he is turning it into a sh!thole, he just made a driveway.

Seems like a good thing, unless I am forgetting something, or not taking something else into account.

The thug looking people with white t shirts down to thier ankles with do rags and the like. And that includes people of all races, dressed alike. But I'm sure they are really great people to be around. You keep talking about the retail plaza and school that is "soon to be open". That will turn the area around in a heartbeat.

Yes, I have seen the projects in question. While I will agree that it does look nicer, there is still the old saying about putting lipstick on a pig...

Re: The Beacon

I understand Mr. Wolf and Marybarr hyping up the Beacon. As I said, they have vested interests. But to really go on and on, post after post about how everything is roses surrounding the Beacon is just insane.

Wibbit, you are right. The Beacon is a sealed-off castle complex. They are only missing the moat.

As for what/who I saw? I saw people that I would not like to live next to. You want me to say minorities, don't you? Well, I saw them. But I saw the bad minorities, they type that you wouldn't trust, as well as the white person who I wouldn't want to live near. Go ahead, call me judgemental. I'm not the only one who thinks that way, just one of the few who isn't afraid to express it. Is downtown great? No. Is it loads better than the Beacon area? Yes.

It's like the emporer's new clothes. The Beacon residents pretend they aren't naked.

They will be replaced with more LOW-INCOME housing, not mixed income. Sure, the income levels will be mixed, but they will all meet the standards of low-income. The only thing they are changing is they style of the building they are being housed in. Some, if not most, of the tenants of MG are already offered leases in the new building.
I seriously doubt any type of retail will be involved.

But let's play Devil's advocate and say it WILL be "mixed income". You have a group of low income people living next to a group of higher income people who weren't told by the realtors (surprise) that the building was designated as it was. Who is going to leave first? And when that group leaves, what type will replace it?

Thanks for the offer Shep, but I have been inside the building/grounds. I have nothing but good things to say about the complex. As I said before, it is top notch, and was at the top of our list.

I will disagree with everyone who shreiks, "You only drove past the projects." I drove around much of the neighborhood. The projects of course stood out as they are directly next door. I don't agree with the fact that people highlight the fact that Montgomery Gardens will be demolished, then hide the fact that they will be replaced with more low-income housing, which takes about 5 years (at most) to become "Projects" level.

I will not, and have not, said anything derogatory about the Beacon complex itself, only the surrounding area. Will it come around and clean up? Likely? Will it be anytime in the near future? Unlikely.

A) of course, the projects. Yes, they will be torn down. Do you know what is replacing it? More project...err, low-income housing. Wow.
B) The area itself offers nothing. Zero, Zilch, Nada.
C) The "locals". Not the type that make up quality neighbors.

"You have PROBLEM with me?"

As for the "duking" standards, I feel they are pretty straightforward. Punches thrown, and landed, by both parties. I also fail to see the knee to the crotch. IF said knee was to have landed, I would classify that as fighting, not duking out. Similar, but different. The same was MMA fighting is similar to, but different than boxing.

I believe what you are referring to is around the :58-1:00 mark. That was trying to kick the other person's legs, not a knee to the groin. I will give you credit for posting a video of a legit street fight, even if it did leave a lot to be desired.

I've had skaters actually try to chase me out of the hockey rink because I was actually playing hockey on it. Funny part is, my dog likes to chase the puck around, so I skate with her without her leash in there. She hates the sound of skateboards, as a lot of dogs do, so she made a hell of a noise, and they left. They bitched and moaned for me to tie her up, but #OOPS# that. She and I were probably the only ones to use it and NOT litter that month.

A judge cannot offer anything, as he needs to remain impartial, or at least make it seem like he is. As for the statute of limitations, that is true for being charged with a crime or something of the ilk. If you have been given a ticket, you have already been charged with the offense listed on the front.

And warrants never go away.

I have had several no point tickets that did not affect my insurance rates.

I agree with the rationalization. However, I think most of us take it for granted that a no point violation has no affect on insurance. My fear now with pleading the current speeding ticket down to a no point violation is that it may be construed by the insurance companies similarly to the seat belt violation. The insurance company in question is GEICO. At the time of the increase last year, I called around to a bunch of agents and they all counted the violation in calculating my rate.
.

The plea agreement in your case would most likely have you pleading down to an Unsafe Operation of a Motor Vehicle. In MY instance, my insurance company did not, and to this day has not, raised my rates because of it.
