I know you must be new to our country but please refrain from calling the Port Authority Police "junior mall cops" especially when 9-11 is right around the corner. Many of the PAPD died and suffered when the Twin Towers fell on 9-11 2001 due to foreign terrorists reeking havoc on our soil. This is insulting and offensive you should be ashamed. I hope this comment gets deleted before 9-11 approaches.

Blind patriotism is apparently not only a refuge for the coward, but for the mentally ill as well. I know you must be new to the concept of free thought, but this is still America and I can call the mall cops what I want.

Could these junior mall cops find somewhere else to run that doesn't involve blocking all the traffic around Hamilton Park?

Judging from the real estate projects in Jersey City over the last decade, there's clearly a market for stunning mediocrity.

Yes, I've noticed the names on the west side. Are any of them "The Building"?

I thought so too, until I did a little research and found it it was a mansion before it was a funeral home.

I was hoping they would be capable of at least a tiny bit of creativity. I'd hate to tell people I live in "The Mansion". It's also going to be subdivided... does that make you think of mansions?

This is never addressed at community meetings and rarely brought up durring political campaigns. We should be rallying to have uniformed zoned parking throughout the city, no fee parking on streets, first come first serve non reserved street parking, and have out-of -towners park on one side for a limited amount of time unless they get a visitor pass. I never get a straight answer from the PA on these issues.

That's a lot of very specific advice from someone who's not allowed to drive.

The law consistently shows that people with alternative schedules do not get courtesy during daylight hours. Sleep with earplugs if that's a problem for you.

This sounds like a situation that would cause more people to just go ahead and do the work without a permit. What are they thinking?

Consider the depth of the new sink too. You might have to change the drain / trap if they don't match up.

Happy to.

I heard of the event at a downtown gallery opening. I saw a flyer and decided to audition at the downtown one. I listened to the other auditioners' proposed topics and was blown away by so many interesting perspectives and solid presenters. I've heard the same about the other 2 locations as well.

My understanding is that while TedX JC may be associated by "name only," as you write, that actually means a lot... in other words, TedX is extremely particular about what is allowed to be called a TedX event, and the organizers are jumping through hoops to be able to bring this event to JC.

Eventually all of the TedX JC presentations will be housed on the primary TedX web site and it could be a promotional opportunity for JC.

Oh, and suck it.

Hopefully the other presenters are a little less vague than you about what they consider to be inspiring.

Sorry not everyone is a staunch supporter of TED or TED-wannabe conferences. At least you're open minded about it.

I see there are over 2000 TEDx events scheduled in the near future. I'm confident the quality control is quite strict.

And it's a group of diverse, open-minded people, including hipsters, who want to share ideas, knowledge, etc. So you probably wouldn't fit in.

From the website:

"TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis."

Like I said, associated in name only. It's entirely possible to be an open minded person without having to resort to such smug back patting.

Perhaps user111111 (or you) would care to share knowledge about the event rather than just a Facebook gallery of poorly composed snapshots?

With zero context, this gallery appears to be a bunch of hipsters hanging out in a shack.

If I recall correctly, TEDx has no association with the well known TED conferences except in name only, so caveat emptor.

We need a lot more two way stop signs in Jersey City. How hard would it be to have a stop sign added to the intersection of 8th and Jersey?

Re: Australians investors buying up Jersey City housing

Oh yeah, add 331.5 Seventh Street to the list of neglected properties Dixon Leasing owns and is doing nothing about. This one made the list of Jersey City's most neglected properties last year. Dixon Leasing seems willing to let it hold that honor.

They bought 318.5 Seventh Street earlier this year, slapped on some paint, and have it on the rental market for $3200/month. For some reason, they can't be bothered to remove the "for sale" sign, though their security goons visit regularly.

What does anyone think a foreign hedge fund's priorities really are?
