My first reaction to this was thinking she was a dirty Bada Bing kind of pole dancer. After doing some research, she was actually a quite successful, admired burlesque dancer. The kind that have inspired Dita Von Teese and the Pussycat Dolls and the whole neo-burlesque movement that is so popular today.
So I'm retracting my statement about her dignity being lost. Well, wait, she still lost her dignity but that's because she's a dirty, corrupt politician, not because she was a dancer. I sort of love her for that.

Sad but I guess appropriate ending to a horrible story.
I hope all persecuted pit bulls get to come back as big silly fluffy golden retrievers or other non-offensive pups in their next lives.

Anyone have Ms. Romanaux's phone number? Let's see if she can fix THIS problem.
It's the completely ridiculous small but huge things like this that make JC so frustrating.

If you need inspiration or education on why equality matters, please watch the speech from NYS Senator Diane Savino. She is amazingly frank, funny, and compassionate. Ms. Savino and her enlightened colleagues fought the good fight.

Don't joke! I had a dream last night that a deer jumped in my bedroom window and the dog ran away and left me alone to get the deer out. I used a chair and an umbrella, if I recall the dream correctly. W. T. F.

i highly recommend Boca's. We've been using them for years and years. They are wonderful and pay great attention to each dog's special needs. I know lots of others who use them too and haven't heard a complaint.

Does Transportation Alternatives have a JC group? I know that they have been critical in the fight for bike rights in NYC. Might be worth teaming up with them.

it's "sow"...but you're right. Karma's like that.
Another article I read said that the guy had so much plastic surgery that he looked completely different from when he made the charges. He apparently also self-injected himself with botox regularly. Sad.

Father of boy who accused Michael Jackson of molestation found dead in Jersey City home
By Ron Zeitlinger/The Jersey Journal November 17, 2009, 4:04PM The father of the boy who received more than $20 million in a settlement from Michael Jackson -- seen here a a news conference in March -- died earlier this month in Jersey City. The father of the 13-year-old boy who accused pop legend Michael Jackson of molesting him in the early 1990s was found dead in his Jersey City home earlier this month -- an apparent suicide -- authorities said today. A Jersey City police spokesman said that Evan Chandler, 65, was found dead on his bed in Liberty Towers, 33 Hudson Street. He had a single gunshot wound to his head and the gun was still in his hand, police spokesman Stan H. Eason said. Police checked on Chandler when they received a call from a Bayonne doctor, who was concerned because Chandler had missed an appointment, police reports said. The doctor told police that Chandler had been extremely ill. In the early 1990s, Chandler reported the King of Pop, who died on June 25, to authorities in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, California, accusing Jackson of molesting his son, Jordan, then 13. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney?s Office launched a probe and convened a grand jury to look into the sexual abuse charges. Meanwhile, Chandler and his son filed a civil lawsuit against Jackson. The case did not go to trial because the boy received a settlement of more than $20 million, according to many published reports. Chandler and Jordan made news in Hudson County in 2005 when Jordan, 26 at the time, accused his father of hitting him in the head with a 12.5-pound weight and also spraying him in the face with a chemical irritant. Evan Chandler was charged with assault and weapons charges, but those charges were later dropped.

do people really live in Guttenberg? I know it's an official town and everything but as a Jersey native, I have never once heard anyone say they were from there or live there.
Just wondering.

But don't the other groups or classes (for lack of a better term) share similar characteristics? Don't birds of a feather flock together? Let me exaggerate (but not by much) to prove a point: All emo kids look alike to me. All hipsters look alike to me. All drunks on Newark look alike to me. And yes, people of the same interests/desires of mine look sorta like me, if I'm being totally objective. Just because the style of this apparent emerging downtown class is not appealing to you doesn't make it wrong or make it "stink." It's when you start assigning general negative attitudes about those groups simply because they share different trends and desires than your own that you start to stink.

a wee bit dramatic, no? the city has a long way to go before that happens -- and it won't. there are still plenty of areas in JC for people lamenting that long lost era. or there is newark or camden. or paterson. life is full of options. and what's with all the manhattan "run off" hate? would you actually live here if manhattan were not across the river?
