I saw some guys in there the other morning doing work, so it might have resumed, or maybe the space has been sold. Didn't bother to ask them but if I see them again I'll try to find out.

Yes the beer selection was good but with everyone ordering draft beers, filling the beer orders was taking way too long, which meant long waits to get drinks.
It wasn't filling the beers that took forever, it was dealing with the register. They only had one register, which meant the 3-4 people behind the bar had to all crowd around it and wait their turn to put in an order. And to get change once the machine was broken. I think if they get another register and a better change machine, things will be much smoother.

If there isn't good signage they might just not know. Leave a note for them before you get all tow-happy. It is an alleyway after all, and not a parking lot.

guess that never happened. I drove in with a couple friends from NYC the other day and was just downright embarassed that I had to drive along CCD. Made me feel like I was living in a warzone. That horrid street needs to get fixed asap it is giving this city a terrible image.

Also, if they're shopping at Whole Foods, I'm sure they would find the natural and organic offerings at ShopRite and A&P to be substandard at best. The ShopRite on Marin is the 5th Gate of Hell and I wouldn't be surprised if It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia filmed an episode here due to the 'eclectic' cast of characters to be seen at all hours of the day at that place.

Maybe the pics on JCI didn't do the place any justice or they took it at a time they were still decorating but this pic is better. I still think the tables and chairs are tacky and cheap though, oh well
since they had to be jammed in as a "restaurant/bar" I think the tables and chairs were probably an afterthought. Looks really nice though. Can't wait til next week!

wait wait no I think I heard of this place called McDonalds that might have opened up a couple locations in NYC and JC and they're doing ok.

I mean damn dude there's two Mamoun's less than one mile from each other. There's hundreds of McDonalds and Starbucks. TGI Fridays everywhere. Applebees. Any chain.

damn you're right, a business could never open in Jersey City AND Brooklyn they'd be taking away business from themselves.

It's pretty clear that the original poster is overreacting here. Do you eat oysters, mussels, or clams? What about the "feces" (as you call it) present there?

The best shrimp I ever had were in Positano, Italy (probably caught that day), and they were fried whole--heads, shells, and all. Clearly not de-veined, but they were so good, I still think about them.

As others have said, the decision to devein shrimp is basically a matter of aesthetics. Not a health issue by any means. The little ones--such as those you find in shrimp salad are never deveined.
this guy knows what's going on.

I bet the OP goes to crab fests and gets all icked out when there are lungs and eggs and other things inside the crabs. ICK!

Re: Jersey City official caught off guard by $13.4 million state grant‎
Home away from home
Home away from home

When the state Department of Transportation released a list last month of nearly two dozen transportation projects in Hudson County that will share $551 million in state funding this year, Jersey City officials were surprised to see $13.4 million allocated for the Bergen Arches.

The problem?

There's no plan, or at least no plan that the city is aware of as to how to use the money, said City Planner Bob Cotter.

"I was very surprised," Cotter said about the allocation. "I'm at a loss to explain what this $13 million is intended to do."

The Bergen Arches are a set of derelict train tracks that run parallel to Route 139 for about a mile. Last used over three decades ago, they were originally constructed to bring Erie Railroad passengers to the Pavonia Avenue Terminal on the waterfront.

The arches are an "incredibly valuable" right-of-way that could be very important for creating additional rail lines in the future, Cotter said. But for now there's no city plan for them, he said.

The $13.4 million state allocation for the Bergen Arches is part of the DOT's proposed five-year Transportation Capital Program.

According to DOT spokesman Joe Dee, it is up to the city to define what they want to do with the Bergen Arches. City and DOT officials have discussed the arches in the past, and DOT officials remembered those discussions when they drew up the five-year capital plan, Dee said.

Roughly two years ago, Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy floated a proposal calling for a light rail route from Journal Square, through the Bergen Arches, across the Sixth Street Embankment, to the waterfront. The city is still in a battle with the owner of the embankment -- Victoria Hyman, the wife of businessman Steve Hyman -- over the fate of unused, elevated stretch.

"I think the first step is doing a study to determine what needs to be done or what they plan to do," Dee said.

According to Cotter, the DOT already commissioned a plan nearly a decade ago that called for any Bergen Arches projects to be "mothballed," or deferred indefinitely.

Like the arts and music fest in HBK for all its nonsense, creates a sense of community like people truly care. I have never seen that in a JC event. Its like its the same 5 people, banging their heads against a wall.

Maybe Fulop as mayor would change things. But our citizenry lacks passion to really drive things forward.
check out the next 4th St Arts event. Something like 700 people showed up for the Chili Cook-Off, which had about a dozen restaurants and another dozen individuals competing.

as long as you cook a shrimp thoroughly, it's not necessary to de-vein it. Stop being a baby. For large shrimp, yeah it looks a bit weird and sometimes it can taste off, but there's no health reasons.

Still, they should just buy shrimp that have already been deveined, so satisfy the weak-willed.

i had a lovely run in with the JCPD tonight - they double parked blocking my car in for over 20 min while they were doing something on 4th street....
the fact that no lights were on the cruiser and I know that another cop lives in the building they were inside (plus the fact that they finally came out and got in their car without saying anything) makes me think that it wasn't official business bc I am sure I would have gotten some lecture/ ticket bc I sat on my horn for 20 min trying to get someone to come move it

they blocked the street for at least the 20 min I was out there (7 - 7:20 pm) and were causing the traffic coming down 4th to back up the length of the block which is VERY dangerous

thank you for perpetuating the stereotype that all cops are lazy losers that slack off on the job and are wasting tax payers money by the handful

plate # HG75115 (car 2990)
I have a few pictures of it... but I am assuming it won't make a difference to report it bc it will all of a sudden become "official business"
after a minute or two you should've called the police to come ticket them and have the car towed. Probably wouldn't have done it but at least you'd be making a point.
