Re: Jersey City Board of Ed gets 'D' for delays in providing service to private schools

4. The notion that public charter schools contribute the ridiculously bloated burueacracy in the JC district is ludicrous. The district could learn a few things from the lean and mean operations of charter schools.

1. The parents of those private school kids are also paying taxes.

2. Charter schools are public schools -- as the poster well knows. (LCCS teachers are also unionized.)

3. Public charter schools get between $8-9,000 per child, whereas public district schools get over $17,000 per child. In fact, the district captures a portion of the state money intended for the students that attend public charter schools, while charters have to pay for their own buildings.

If the car has a green to turn, doesn't the pedestrian have the same green light to walk? The Don't Walk is flashing as a warning the same way a yellow is a warning. (And yes, I walk, bike and drive too.)

Going the wrong way on the one way street poses a major danger to pedestrians who are looking only way for traffic.

It compromises public safety because it's illegal. I just wish the cops could focus on dangerous stuff and leave consenting adults (assuming the women were consenting adult) alone.

I know some very decent hard working kids who go to Ferris. Too bad a large group of not so decent kids are ruining the name for everyone else.

Just received this from Steve Fulop.

"Excuse the brief and mass email. We have received numerous calls and emails regarding the Wayne Street Shooting. It is very disconcerting.
?
Pls. note that we have received a call from the JCPD that an arrest has been made today?in connection with the Wayne Street Shooting.
?
The East District and Captain Gallagher will be holding their monthly Captain's meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd, at 7pm, at Middle School #4 on Bright Street. I encourage you all to attend. The Van Vorst?Park Association (www.vvpa.org)?will meet at the Playground on Wayne Street across Barrow Mansion at 6:30pm and walk together as a community to the Captain's meeting. Hopefully, the investigation will be closed at this point and the JCPD can share more information.
?
Thanks again?for your concern. If there is anything else, pls. let me know.

Steve"

Perhaps the woman who was in pain and bleeding, was bit distracted to chase after someone who was running away?

Oh, yes, that WSJ/nap thing was very popular the summers I was pregnant. Two summer babies. They couldn't even say that they didn't see that nine month belly under a coat.

When I was pregnant, men rarely offered me a seat. It was usually the women. I'm having a tough time understanding all this hostility to doing the right thing by people who cannot move fast enough knock other people out of the way to get a seat on the train - whether it be because of pregnancy, crutches, or advanced age. (You'll note I didn't say high heels.)

Started out as a robbery at Grove and Montgomery. Then chase ensued. Fast action by police.

CREATE, like LCCS, is a charter school. Charter schools are open to students from all over the city. In addition, the city's high schools are open city-wide. The new CREATE site will draw from all over as well.

McNair kids do fail, but in much smaller numbers than other JC high schools.

That being said, I did not read the remark above to mean that the "alleged poipetrators" were regular McNair students, but are students from other schools who attend summer school in the McNair Academic.

It was a rhetorical question. And very sloppy reporting as no person has yet to be accused of being the shooter. If they are charging an unknown "John Doe" until an arrest is made, then the reporter should just say so.

I think the writer of this article needs to make up his mind. In the first paragraph, the police are asking for help finding the shooter. In the third paragraph, the charges against the person accused of the shooting have been upgraded to murder.

Do they have the shooter in custody or not?
