The jar at Fussy Friends wasn't a tip jar you fucking loser, it was a donation jar for CAT a non profit organization in Jersey City. Did you read the article where it said donation jar. Get a fucking clue Troll.

Try Red Feast liquor on Columbus, they have hundreds of boxes out on recycling night. They are really nice guys there as well. Village Liquors on Grove also has a shitload of boxes out for recycling too. Good luck with the move.

I think they are somehow merging with A1. A couple of the guys from A1 are going to work there now. Also that pizza is pretty bad.

I saw someone from Vegas Grill stapling signs up all the eff over Wayne Street and Grove yesterday, numerous flyers on each tree. I tweeted city hall about it. This morning when I passed several of them they had fluorescent dicks drawn on them. Gave me a good chuckle.

I'll tell you who NOT to use: Maynor Cannon at JC Property Management. We've emailed this lazy tool several times about things that needed fixing, he either ignored us or sent over a worker without a ladder who tried to use our outdoor garbage can as a step stool to fix a light. Seriously he was trying to stand on the effing garbage can. Good Luck to you.

I agree with Jessica, I have no problems anywhere in Jersey City, it's the rest of the USA I have issues with. No service in Upstate NY, sketchy service in Fairhaven MA, SUPER sketchy service after exit 58 on the GSP. It makes me crazy. The customer service has always been pretty good. I pay $127 a month for 2 phone lines with unlimited data and 1000 calling minutes.

Wow there has been a lot of responses to this thread since I posted and I feel that some of thread may have gone off topic a bit and that I should clarify some things.

First I want to reiterate that while the incident did take place near the low/affordable income housing I am in no way implying that the incident was caused by anyone who lives there. Quite in fact I walk by there enough to talk with residents when I walk by with my dog and to know the the very same stoop they were sitting on has a sign in the door from the resident who lives there asking people not to sit on the stoop.

These types of places exist for a reason and I am not going to assume that just because it happened in proximity to them that they are to blame. More than likely these were individuals from a different part of the city who wandered down here as this type of thing I have not seen happen and I've been here for awhile.

Now to the people saying that I should "man up" and that this type of thing happens in a city I say this. In my 36 years I've had to talk my fair share of abuse both physical and verbal from bullies and assholes. My skin is thick enough that I don't go crying home because i'm called a name and my ego is secure enough that I don't have to bash someone to prove my worth. Which is why we walked away.

As to why we called the non-emergency line. It's because I am a citizen of this city and have manned up to not simply ignore or become apathetic to things that are not right. I know that I am not the only one who walks by and this sort of incident won't be isolated to me, and it is for those others that I did it. If I wanted to see vengeance or retribution I would have stayed to make sure someone came and what became of them or would have concocted some erroneous story to make it more worse than it was to insure someone check it out.

I am fully aware of how big this city is and that the police can be busy but this why cities have precincts and patrols; to divvy up the city so that its more manageable and can respond to a range of incidents. My anger was more directed at the response of what do you want us to to do attitude. To allow this activity to continue unchecked or unchallenged effectively promotes the behavior and stalls any growth this city has of turning itself around. Yes it seems like a small incident but there will never be a large scale incident that makes things better. Change will only come from small incremental change very day and it must be persistent. I care enough about my city to make the call and I'm a bigger man for just walking away in the end.

Dude, don't explain yourself, you never said anything derogatory about that fug ass but well kept apartment complex. Fuck these people on here, you could be dying in the middle of the street from a hubcap slicing your throat open that fell off an airplane carrying cars and they would still blame you. This is a cynical city, brush yourself off and keep on being awesome, as for the trash harrassing you, just laugh in your head at the shitty shitty lives they have lived and will live. Karma my friend, is a miserable bitch.

Re: Rash of Suspected Feral Cat Poisoning in Downtown JC

OneSkirt wrote:
There has been a rash of dead feral cats found on Wayne Street between Varick & Barrow Streets downtown (about 5) in the last few weeks. Poisoning is suspected as these cats dropped quickly and a few suspicious conversations have been overheard. This will not be tolerated by the residents on these blocks!

Poisoning of any animal, stray or not, is a FELONY in the state of NJ. Not only is it inhumane, its also a danger to children, dogs, and house cats that some people allow to be indoor-outdoor cats (which I don't agree with, but its a personal choice/risk). If other living beings get in the poison or are exposed to decomposing carcasses, that's a major public health issue. This crime has been reported to Animal Control and a neighborhood watch is happening. If anyone wants to join to help the watch, and the upcoming efforts to get these cats fixed, please let us know. The more eyes, the better.

We realize not everyone loves stray cats, but they are a fact of life in the urban eco-system. It is against the law to harm them in any way. The best solution for the whole community is TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release). Simply removing or euthanizing the cats does not work, as fresh new stray cats will come back into the area and take their place. Shelters have to euthanize feral cats that come in as they are not adoptable. But If you fix the cats, they stop reproducing, nuisance hormonal behaviors stop/calm down, they control the rodents, and they protect the territory from new un-fixed strays coming in.

TNR is practiced by m any volunteer groups and is a grass-roots efforts. In Jersey City, we have Companion Animal Trust, which has regular classes on how to fix and best manage these cat colonies. Please go to http://www.neighborhoodferalcat.org/ to learn more.

If you want to help fix the problem, there are a lot of ways to help, from fostering & fixing kittens, donating (it costs us $10 a cat to fix them), to offering your time to help. The work put in results in many years of kitten free blocks.

No offense to you one skirt, I actually love animals and would love to say I have 3 ferals in my yard but let's face it, they are mine at this point. (fixed, vaccinated, come in when it's cold or shiity out) didn't you move away from Wayne Street years ago, where are you getting your info from? Again no offense just confused as to where this info came from as I am friends with CAT on Facebook and have seen nothing posted. I will also poison the person I find doing this, if true, with my fist in their ass. On another note I've walked passed that part of Wayne and their are a shitload of cats, are we sure this isn't rabies or another awful disease. I hope I'm wrong on all accounts and they were all 29 year old cats.

What am I missing!? Tequila menu? Quality tequila "go to" place? When did Herradura become quality stuff??? I must be a snob, or something.

You want "go to" tequila place with a TRUE, QUALITY tequila menu? Go here: La Biblioteca and here is a direct link to their tequila menu (with HUNDREDS of options): Tequila (and, mezcal) Menu.

chill out dude, for some reason the Tequila menu isn't on the website (it's a separate menu from food and drinks). I was there for the soft opening last night and there had to be about 60 tequila's on the menu and behind the bar. The food was really good, especially the pork belly taco's and blue cheese guacamole.

Is Cinco de Mayo on 401 Central Avenue at Thorne still open? They have really really tasty tacos and other Mexican food there.

Does anybody know how Stella's and Helen's have stayed in business for so many years? Who orders from them? They are both so awful, it doesn't even taste like pizza. For what it's worth, Stella's was open during Sandy, didn't over charge, let people use the bathroom, filled water jugs and were just downright awesome. Not a huge fan of thier pizza but it does it's job. Not sure about Helen's, when I first moved here 10 years ago I ordered from them a lot, but I usually only eat pizza as a quick snack or a drunk snack.
