That's right charge the parents, there is no excuse for a 14 year old to be waiting for a bus at 11:58 P.M. when there is a law in this city. 10:30 curfew is put in place to protect our children. Only excuse for a child being out that late is if he/she is homeless. I doubt if this kid was homeless with a cell phone with GPS capability. We call the authorities if we see children without a parent or guardian after 10:30 P.M because its the law.

I love it how some arses try to turn the victim into the criminal...perhaps that kid was vacationing in the Heights or going from 1 parent to another (who knows?) and even if that kid were a drug-dealer that still gives the robber no right to steal his phone.

Why weren't this kids parents charged? There is a curfew for kids under 16.

If the teen was waiting for a bus, cab or ride he was not breaking curfew. If he dropped out of school, was suspended, excused the next day or was on spring break he did not break it either.

so this kid gets mugged and the cops actually did something about it? I wonder who he knows.
When I got mugged, the cops here could barely be bothered to take the caps off their pens.

A 30-year-old Jersey City man was charged with robbing a 14-year-old boy at knife-point in the Heights late late night, officials said.
Flor Cruz of Griffith Street was charged in the robbery that occurred at Central Avenue and Bowers Street at 11:58 p.m. yesterday, reports said.
The victim said he was standing on the corner when Cruz grabbed him from behind, turned him around, held a knife to his throat and said "Let me see your f---ing phone," reports said. Cruz took the phone and ran away, but police officers were able to track the cell phone to the area of Cruz's residence, reports said.
A resident in the area told police where a man fitting the description lived and police went to the building, reports said. While inside the building, a resident entered his apartment and police saw a man fitting the description inside, reports said.
The victim later identified Cruz as the robber, reports said, adding that Cruz said the cell phone was in his room and police recovered it.
