The gas shutoff valve is at he meter. You can close it with a wrench or screw driver.

If your basement floods ( mean flooding up to the ceiling.. not a just a wet floor), its a good idea to shutoff the gas.

OK so there's a possibility of mandatory evac of downtown. perhaps a few of us won't wait to be told. not sure what I'll choose. but what's the prevailing wisdom on how to prep a condo for this kind of thing? being a renter for most of my life, I'm slowly coming up to speed on issues that homeowners have needed to wrap their head around. seems like turning the gas off would be prudent. condos have cutoff valves for gas that are very local (at the stove etc.) should we be sussing out a centralized cutoff elsewhere in the building? any benefit in turning off the breakers (sans the fridge) before we lose power? I'm not expecting a flood up to the outlets in my case. but I'm wondering if anyone's gone through this kind of thing eslewhere and might have some pointers to share. thanks.
