Shot in leg, robbed by street bandit
Tuesday, April 03, 2007 A Jersey City man tried to walk away from an armed robber, but he was shot in the leg after the thief said, "You think I'm playing?" officials said. Two men, 20 and 22, who live at Bergen and Jewett avenues, said at 11:20 p.m. Sunday they were placing an order at Bergen Fried Chicken when the robber walked by outside, reports said. The pair started walking home and the man caught up to them and confronted them as they approached the door of their residence, saying "Give me what you got," reports said. The 20-year-old kept walking and the robber shot him in the right upper thigh, reports said. The wounded man fell to the ground and the robber walked over and took his gold necklace, gold bracelet, iPod, cell phone and $60, reports said, adding that the other victim handed over his cell phone. The robber fled north on Bergen Avenue. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
