State gives grants to help fix up Hudson roads
ALI WINSTON -- JERSEY JOURNAL STAFF WRITER -- Nov. 20
Hudson County stands to benefit significantly from the state Department of Transportation's Municipal Aid Program, which has awarded more than $4 million in grants for local road projects.
"In a state like New Jersey, where so many of our residents commute to work, a healthy and vibrant transportation system is key," said state Sen. Nicholas J. Sacco, the mayor of North Bergen.
Municipalities must submit applications for the grants, which are disbursed on an annual basis. Hoboken was the only Hoboken municipality not to receive any grants.
Some of the larger projects include the repaving of Newark Avenue in Jersey City and the ongoing work on Central Avenue and 12th street in Union City.
