The budget that came out last week is only the proposed budget.

The legislature has the power to amend the budget. It even has the theoretical power to write its own budget (it did this once during Florio's term).

I expact the state aid distribution to undergo some changes to focus more state aid on the most severely underaided districts and to not give overaided districts any additional money.

Posted March 19, 2018 at 12:30 PM | Updated March 19, 2018 at 12:31 PM

By Ron Zeitlinger | The Jersey Journal

Twelve of Hudson County's 13 public school districts will receive more state aid than last year, according to Gov. Phil Murphy's proposed state budget.

Secaucus would receive the biggest increase percentage-wise, with an 11.4 percent hike from its $1.13 million budget in 2017-18, while eight districts would receive a 5 percent bump. Hoboken would see no increase and Jersey City would get a 0.5 percent hike. ... n.html#incart_2box_hudson

Jersey City
2017-18 state aid: $410,404,292
2018-19 state aid: $412,268,006
Difference: + $1,863714 (0.5 percent)
