sounds doggy - however there is a trend / scam whereby individuals get free medical services if they claim to be a victim of crime. An example would be to claim assault / burglary / robbery instead of saying they were drunk and fell down some stairs!

Patrick Villanova | The Jersey Journal
A 25-year-old Jersey City resident told police a man broke into his home while he slept Tuesday night and got away with $150 after throwing him down a set of stairs, according to a police report. Police responded to a Hancock Avenue apartment near Griffith Street at around 6 p.m. on the report of a robbery, and found the resident lying on the hallway floor, the report states. The resident, who had been sleeping earlier, told police that he awoke to sounds of his front door being forced open. When he fully woke up, he found a heavyset man dressed in all black clothing, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, inside his living room, the report states. More
