JERSEY CITY ? Recent New Jersey City University graduate LeKendrick Shaw lives by the mantra "improbable does not mean impossible." Despite being overlooked by a number of colleges after graduating high school, the 25-year-old Jersey City native worked to earn a bachelor's degree in finance from NJCU in May 2014. With just a few years of experience under his belt will have founded two apparel businesses by the end of this month. Shaw, who first founded Metro Capz ? a West Side Avenue hat store ? in 2012, says that he wanted to be an inspiration for others born or raised in the area. "Jersey City is where I was born and raised, where I was educated, and where my businesses are located," said Shaw. "This is where I owe much of my success and it is this city that will reap the rewards of my success." Eight months after graduation, the young businessman wasted no time in furthering his success with the soon-to-be launched Gloire (French for glory). The men's apparel store will offer clothing from brands such as 10 Deep and Stussy, Diamond Supply, as well as up-and-coming brands from emerging designers. http://imgick.nj.com/home/njo-media/w ... ess--8ef21b23697763f7.jpg The store, located at 646 Montgomery St., is set top open Jan. 31. Shaw, who partnered with fellow Jersey City resident Javier Lopez to open the two retail businesses, interned for Bloomberg L.P. in June 2011 and worked as an analyst for Goldman Sachs in the summer of 2013.
