Who tapes jewelry to their headboard? Why would you do that?

Two movers hired for a job got away with over $13,500 of jewelry from a Jersey City apartment on Laidlaw Avenue on Saturday, say police.

The resident of the Laidlaw Avenue apartment flagged down a police car near his home at 12:30 a.m. and alerted the officers that his movers had taken a bag of jewelry taped to a head board.

The victim said there were three items in the bag, a link chain valued at $5,000, a bracelet valued at $4,000 and a solid gold watch with diamonds valued at $4,500, said police.

According to police reports, the owner had paid the movers $199 to move his furniture to his new apartment a few blocks down the same street.

Craigslist?

This smells like old fish. If I moved I would handle the most valuable items myself and not hand them over to anyone.
