I thought the city was taking action regarding building that are abandoned for more than six months? Just more smoke and mirrors?

i know the city has no money to spare, but if it is indeed the oldest house in town, it should be purchased and turned into a museum with time-appropriate furnishings and stuff. that would be cool!

anyone know anything about the current status of this house? it seems to be inhabited by hoarders and cats... windows are covered from the inside with piles and piles of stuff... only sign of life is the random cat peering out the window every now and then....

These are the owners according to the tax records:

Peek into Jersey City's past with Historic Preservation Month events: Legends & Landmarks.

May: the seminal month of the year for historic preservation. A profound period when architectural monuments are opened wide to the populace, when archives almost always off-limits are brought forward -- and when threatened landmarks largely overlooked and endangered are instead highlighted, acclaimed, defended.
More than three decades ago, the National Trust for Historic Preservation -- a Washington, D.C.-based historic preservation organization that advocates for landmarks across the country -- initiated National Preservation Week, consisting of tours, lectures, workshops and festivals. It has evolved over the years into a month-long celebration -- a profound reflection of preservation's popularity and adoption as a practice, profession and philosophy.
Now in its 13th year of celebrating National Preservation Month, the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, which was formed as a non-profit in 1999 by activists to answer threats facing historic sites, objects and districts, will be partnering with local historians, scholars, educators, neighborhood groups and community organizers to create an extended preservation experience.
An exciting series of historical walking tours and events is scheduled for the entire month of May -- and even leading into June as an added bonus.
Here, as a special feature of Legends and Landmarks, a pull-out schedule is being made available. Additional details including photos and updates can be found on the JC Landmarks website atResized ImagePeek into JC history.
