Thats a lie. It would break some law of physics for this to be true.

It seems odd that a street sweeper-- which presumably is designed to handle a lot of leaves and wouldn't be necessary if there WEREN'T leaves--would catch fire because there are a lot of leaves.

I didn't see the fire start, but I saw it just before the fire dept came. That was a pretty big flame shooting up. From my perspective, it looked like it almost reached a branch (though my perspective might have been skewed).

My guess would be all the dry leaves in the road built up enough friction to cause smoldering. I've spoken with the street sweeper driver and the JCPA driver in the cart, and they both told me that leaves in the street clog up the sweeper and make it less effective.

Will the city provide free leaf bags so I can sweep the leaves there instead of into the street?

Noticed a burning street sweeper this morning. Didn't appear that anyone was hurt, nor did any other cars suffer damage. I think all the water from the fire engines actually cleaned the street better than the sweeper itself.

Somehow I doubt this will lead to a suspension of today's alternate side routine...
