A gunman chased a car down the street this morning and fired three shots, hitting a 19-year-old passenger in the arm, Jersey City police said. Police were called to Jersey City Medical Center on the report of a man shot in the arm. Police the victim at the hospital at about 12:55 a.m., reports said. The victim, a 19-year-old Springfield man, who had a swollen and bruised face, said that he was at the corner of Fulton Avenue and Van Cleef Avenue, with two other men, when a group of four males jumped on him -- punching him in the face, reports said. He and his friends escaped in a car, but as they reached Woodlawn Avenue and Van Cleef Avenue, the driver saw the group chasing them on foot, reports said. One of the group pulled out a gun, fired a shot in the air and then two more shots at the car, reports said. One of the bullets reportedly hit the trunk of the car, went through the back seat and hit the 19-year-old Ocean Avenue resident in the upper arm, reports said. He was treated for a non-life threatening bullet wound to the upper left arm, reports said.
