Published: Monday, October 03, 2011, 3:00 AM
By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal

A 44-year-old Jersey City man riding home on his mountain bike Saturday afternoon was stopped and pistol-whipped by a group of four juveniles who were trying to rob him, police said.
The victim told police he was assaulted shortly after 4 p.m. at Bayview and Garfield avenues, reports said.

The robbers fled empty-handed, but the victim suffered swelling on the right side of his face after one of his attackers struck him with a handgun, police said.

The victim was treated for non life-threatening injuries at the Jersey City Medical Center.
