One motorcyclist killed, second injured, after crashing near turnpike toll plaza

A motorcyclist was killed and a second was injured, after crashing during heavy rain near the New Jersey Turnpike Toll Plaza in Jersey City last night, officials said.

One motorcyclist died in the crash involving two motorcycles near the New Jersey Turnpike Extension on the Holland Tunnel side of the 14C Toll Plaza at roughly 8:30 p.m., a Turnpike spokesman said.

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was brought to the Jersey City Medical Center trauma unit where he was listed in critical condition, said Robert Luckritz, emergency medical services operations coordinator for Jersey City Medical Center.
