By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal

A 24-year-old Jersey City man has been charged with sexually assaulting and beating his 63-year-old mother in her Bayonne home, officials said.

The man, who is not being identified to protect the mother?s identity, is being held at the Hudson County jail in Kearny on $1 million bail.

According to the allegations, at 1 a.m. last Thursday, the suspect forced his mother to perform a sex act on him.
He threatened her with a knife, beat her with his fists, and at one point choked her while holding his hand over her nose, officials said.

The woman sustained minor physical injuries, Deputy First Assistant Hudson County Prosecutor Debra Simon said.
The woman dialed 911, and the Hudson County Prosecutor?s Office?s Special Victims Unit was contacted.

The suspect was arrested at about 6 a.m. Tuesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Service?s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, Simon said. He later made his first appearance on the charges in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City.

The charges include: aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, making terroristic threats and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After further investigation, the case will be presented to a grand jury, Simon said.
