View Larger Map Woman shot in leg on Myrtle Ave Monday, May 16, 2011 A 34-year-old Jersey City woman was apparently shot by accident in the leg early Saturday morning, police said. Called to a house on Myrtle Avenue near Martin Luther King Drive on the report of a shooting at 2:15 a.m., police found a trail of blood leading from the building's entrance door to a first floor apartment, reports said. Inside, police found the gunshot victim sitting on a chair in the kitchen, bleeding from her lower left leg, reports said. The woman said she was standing outside the house when she heard two gunshots. She then felt a searing pain in her leg and realized she was shot, reports said. A witness reported seeing three men standing on the other side of the street from where the woman was hurt. The witness heard one of the men say "let me get that" - apparently referring to a gun - before shots were fired, reports said. The men fled west on Grand Street toward Bergen Avenue and it is unclear who they were trying to shoot, police said. The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Jersey City Medical Center. Anyone with information about the incident should call (201) 547-JAIL.
