Jersey City Public Schools to launch year-long anti-bullying campaign

Jersey City Public Schools will host an anti-bullying rally tomorrow morning at St. Peter's College, an event that will launch a district-wide effort to combat bullying.

"Somebody Not Me," an 11-minute movie about bullying, will premiere at the rally. The film was designed to provide school officials with a resource to combat bullying before it is too late, according to a district spokeswoman.

The rally will also launch the district's new public-service announcement inviting students, parents and staff to be bold by taking a Bullying Prevention Pledge.

"To give the crisis of bullying its due attention and create a successful anti-bullying campaign, we must make that critical connection with the schools and the community," said Schools Superintendent Charles T. Epps Jr.

The district has created a Bullying Task Force that will help implement the district's anti-bullying campaign.

Tomorrow's rally begins at 9:30 a.m. and is expected to run two hours. Jersey City Public School students will be bused to the event.
