View Larger Map Jersey City police say different groups of teens were perpetrators in three violent robberies on Sunday Tuesday, January 18, 2011 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Groups of boys and girls were responsible for several violent robberies in Jersey City on Sunday afternoon and evening, officials said. At 3:25 p.m. a 25-year-old River Court resident was walking at Van Winkle and Liberty avenues when four boys, ages 13 to 15, knocked him to the ground and began kicking him, reports said. The boys, who used scarves to cover their faces, took the man's iPhone and wallet containing $30, credit cards and other items, reports said. When police arrived, the victim was bleeding from cuts on his forehead and on the back of his head. He requested an ambulance but later refused medical attention, reports said. At 5:42 p.m., a 35-year-old Corbin Avenue man was walking at Corbin and Pavonia avenues when he was approached by a group of three boys and a girl, ages 15 to 17, reports said. When the juveniles ordered the man to hand over his money, he took off running, but they caught him and began punching him in the head before taking his wallet, reports said. The boys and girl took $90 out of the man's wallet before throwing it on the ground and fleeing, reports said, adding that the victim refused medical attention. Finally, a 16-year-old boy got off a bus at Boyd Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard at 9:30 p.m. and was approached by two teens who said "Run your pockets," reports said. One of the robbers put the victim in a headlock while the other took his MP3 player, cell phone, and $30, reports said. The victim's mother refused medical attention for him, reports said. Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL. ============================= Last attack was the west side:
