The extent of the damage is unknown and is still being evaluated by city officials and insurance companies, she said. The pipe broke Tuesday night or early yesterday morning on one of the upper floors in the office building. According to Morrill, it went unnoticed until a city employee reported for work early yesterday morning. The offices held employees from a number of departments such as the Department of Health & Human Services, Immunization, Senior Affairs, Meals on Wheels, HHS Fiscal, HHS Director's Office, Lead Prevention Office, Health Education, and other clinics, Morrill said. "We were fortunate that it happened on a holiday week when some employees are on scheduled vacations," she said, adding that employees may be relocated to the HUB on Martin Luther King Drive and 1 Journal Square Plaza, where the city has offices. Morrill says it is unclear how the city will proceed with the property. "A determination has not been made yet as to whether this is a temporary relocation or if a permanent relocation will be sought," she said.
