View Larger Map Jersey City cops notice 3 men and a Mercedes and learn the car was stolen in Orange and find loaded handgun and drugs in search, police say Friday, July 09, 2010 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Jersey City police spotted three men hanging around a carjacked Mercedes late Wednesday night and arrested them after finding a gun and suspected marijuana and cocaine, official said yesterday. At 9:13 p.m., officers at Woodward Street and Bramhall Avenue arrested Tommie A. Pulliam, 19, of East Orange; Cecil A. Crainmoor, 19, of Rahway, and Jamal A. Mainor, 22, of Newark, reports said. All were charged with receiving stolen property, reports said, adding that Crainmoor was additionally charged with drug possession. Mainor was also charged with resisting arrest and weapons offenses, including possession of a weapon by a felon. Officers patrolling the area of recent drug crimes, robberies, shootings and assaults spotted Mainor standing in the sunroof of the parked 2005 Mercedes and Crainmoor was lighting what appeared to be a marijuana "blunt" near the open front door, reports said. As backup arrived, the officers approached the car and Mainor took a gun out of his pocket and tossed it into the backseat of the car before telling police the vehicle, which had been carjacked in Orange earlier that day, belonged to his aunt, reports said. Mainor tried to leave twice and was tackled and handcuffed during a struggle, reports said. The .380 caliber semiautomatic was found to be loaded and it had a bullet in the chamber, reports said, adding that it was reported stolen in Allentown, Pa. Two bags of suspected cocaine were found in Crainmoor's right shoe, reports said. Mainor was in prison from Nov. 2, 2007 to April 28, 2008 and Nov. 10, 2009 to Dec. 20, 2009 for aggravated assault, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension and receiving stolen property, state corrections records say. Police also found there were warrants for Mainor's arrest out of Union City and Essex County, reports said. Jersey City Police Director Sam Jefferson said last night that his department is working with Orange police to determine if those arrested were involved in any other carjackings there.
