View Larger Map Attacker still at large after stabbing man to death, witnesses and surveillance video can help find killer Monday, July 05, 2010 By AMY SARA CLARK JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A 19-year-old Jersey City man was fatally stabbed outside of Hollywood Fried Chicken on Bergen Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, authorities said. Darnell Williams, of Jersey City, was stabbed once in the right lower abdomen near the groin, and once in the upper left abdomen, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said. The man believed to be the killer - a black male wearing light-color cargo pants and a black T-shirt - was last seen walking west on Montgomery Street, DeFazio said. The establishment is located at 775 Bergen Ave., near Hudson Catholic High School. The motive for the homicide has not been established, but Williams apparently had a confrontation with his attacker before he was stabbed, DeFazio said. There were a number of witnesses to this murder and some of what happened was captured on surveillance video that detectives are reviewing, DeFazio said. Initially witnesses did not realize Williams had been stabbed. Once they did, they flagged down a Jersey City cruiser, DeFazio said. Williams was treated at Jersey City Medical Center, where he died shortly after 11 a.m., DeFazio said.
