View Larger Map Jersey City man beaten unconscious by teens for sitting on car, cops say By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal March 30, 2010, 2:14PM A 33-year-old Jersey City man was left unconscious on the street after being assaulted by a group of teenagers, apparently because he was sitting on a car belonging to the mother of one of the boys, officials said. Following the attack at West Side Avenue and Union Street at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police arrested a 14-year-old Stegman Street boy and a 15-year-old Williams Avenue boy, charging both with aggravated assault, reports said. When police responded to the scene they met an Orange police officer who said he was driving by when he saw six or seven teens chasing the 33-year-old New York Avenue victim, reports said. The off-duty officer grabbed the 14-year-old and arrested him, reports said. Police found the victim lying on the ground and he was unresponsive, bleeding and had a large bump on the back of his head, reports said. The 15-year-old apparently yelled "Get off my mom's car," during the attack, reports said. The victim was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center and when police checked on him later, doctors said they could not determine his condition because he was too intoxicated, reports said.
