Monday, October 05, 2009
Jersey City police took an illegal handgun and more than 35 Ecstasy tablets off the street yesterday after stopping a driver for speeding, reports said.
Michael T. Bradford, 33, of Walnut Street, Jersey City, was charged with multiple weapons and drug charges, as well as bail jumping, reports said.
Police driving south on Martin Luther King Drive at 4:30 a.m. yesterday morning spotted a speeding car. The license plate came up as registered to a driver with a suspended license, reports said.
Police pulled over the car at Bramhall and Madison avenues. When cops walked over they smelled marijuana, reports said.
Bradford, who was driving, appeared nervous and admitted he was driving without a license, police said.
When police ordered him out the car and searched him, they discovered a Glock 19 handgun, reports said, and 12 hollow point bullets, and 37 Ecstasy tablets, reports said.
The passenger, Ralph E. Harris, 29, of Commuinpaw Avenue, was also found to have several open warrants, and was arrested.
