There should be more unmarked police cars out there to catch this kind of scum of Jersey City daily.
That area of Jewett & Bergen, Lex & Bergen, Dwight & Bergen should be raided EVERYDAY!!!

Gun, drug charges take teen off street

A 19-year-old Jersey City man who apparently fired a shot while being chased by police yesterday was soon arrested on multiple weapons charges and police found he was carrying suspected cocaine and heroin, officials said.

Travis Defoe, of Bergen and Jewett avenues, was arrested on Lexington Avenue and additionally charged with resisting arrest and drug counts, including possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and within 500 feet of public property, reports said.

At about 11 a.m. officers scouring the area of Communipaw and Bergen avenues on a report of a man with a gun spotted Defoe clutching the left side of his sweat pants as though holding an object, reports said. When Defoe kneeled to tie the laces of his sneaker an officer got out of an unmarked car with his gun drawn and Defoe started running, reports said.

Defoe apparently had not finished tying his shoe.

With police chasing, Defoe jumped a fence on Lexington Avenue and his shoe remained on top of the fence, reports said, adding that police then heard a gunshot as he ran behind a building.

Numerous officers converged on the area and two cops searching a residence found a man sitting in a hallway wearing only one sneaker, reports said, adding he was later identified as Defoe.

After his arrest, police found Defoe was carrying 24 vials of suspected cocaine and 17 glassine bags containing suspected heroin with the logo "Frank Lucas," reports said.

Officers found the handgun on the first-floor roof of a nearby building and the spent shell in a backyard, reports said.

Defoe was booked and transported to Hudson County jail in Kearny.
