Jersey City teen says man walked up to him and shot him

An 18-year-old Myrtle Avenue resident was shot in Jersey City early Sunday morning, reports said.

Police were called to Bayview Avenue between Martin Luther King Drive and Ocean Avenue at 12:05 a.m. on the report of a shooting.

The victim was being treated by emergency medical technicians for a gunshot wound to the left side of his lower body when police arrived.

He told police a man with an automatic handgun walked up to him and shot him, police said.

The victim, whose injuries were not considered life threatening, was treated at Jersey City Medical Center, reports said.
