A Jersey City man was shot in the stomach in Greenville Monday night, but neither the victim nor witnesses would help police track down the man who fired the gun on Stegman Street, officials said.
Officers responding to Stegman near Bergen Avenue at 10:13 p.m. met a crowd of people and one of them said a man had been shot and was being driven to the hospital in a black BMW, reports said. No one else at the scene would give police information about the shooting of the 19-year-old Myrtle Avenue man, reports said.
Officers also responded to the Jersey City Medical Center, but the victim, being treated in the emergency room, would not provide any information, reports said.
The bullet struck the victim just below the rib cage, officials said. He was treated at the Medical Center and transferred to an unnamed hospital in stable condition.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Jersey City Police Department tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
